ABOUT THE POSITION

The Chief Financial Officer is responsible for managing all financial aspects of the company. They will assist the CEO in building successful growth of the company. The CFO also oversees risk mitigation and oversees the import compliance team. Through a respectful, constructive, and energetic style, guided by the objectives of the company, the CFO provides the leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure that the company has the proper operational analytics and controls, and administrative and reporting procedures in place.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance to achieve high growth and profitability targets. Provide strategic financial input and leadership on key decision-making issues affecting the organization.
  • Own the overall functional output of the finance and accounting teams. Ensure timely, accurate, and strategic deliverables. This would include items such as invoice payments, purchase orders, and reports.
  • Monitor cash flow and other measures to ensure covenant agreements are maintained. Working with the CEO, set and maintain margin goals to maximize profits in all areas of the company.
  • Develop reliable revenue and operating profit forecasting processes, cash flow projection processes, and operational reporting mechanisms to help the company meet operating needs.
  • Partner with the CEO in the development of the company's plans and programs, pressure testing, and evaluating scenarios. Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of long-range planning, the introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action.
  • Coach and develop the finance and accounting team to build succession depth.
  • Optimize debt management.
  • Drive process improvements and improve efficiency of all business processes within the function.
  • Oversee the handling of banking and financial relationships and initiate appropriate strategies to enhance borrowing and financial flexibility.
  • Provide timely and accurate analysis of KPIs, including ROI, Asset Utilization, etc. In addition, ensure timely provision of budgets and financial reports, including analysis of financial trends in order to assist the CEO and Board.
  • Be a key player from the financial perspective on any contracts into which the company may enter.
  • Analyze and inform operational decisions impacting the supply chain, inventory, cash flow management, and enterprise infrastructure.
  • Provide technical financial advice, knowledge, and coaching to others within the financial team and translate financial information into actionable understanding for others in the organization.
  • Lead the annual budget process and provide ongoing monitoring and reporting of performance to plan.
  • Mitigate risk by securing adequate insurance coverage and serve as legal liaison in product liability matters.
  • Oversee the import compliance team and maintain C-TPAT compliance.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master of Business Administration or CPA certification preferred.
  • Fifteen or more years of relevant financial and accounting leadership experience demonstrating consistent progression. Experience in a lead finance role preferred.
  • Experience working for a consumer products company preferred with special consideration given to retail experience.
  • This position requires occasional travel.
  • Ability to be onsite four or more days per week.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Strong operational background (such as, for example, experience with supply chain, inventory management, and enterprise infrastructure).
  • Deep understanding of accounting and finance organization/function particularly as relates to financial planning and reporting.
  • Experience in developing a financial strategy for a high-growth company.
  • Experience in a privately held company.
