You are: 508 Accessibility Specialist

Responsibilities:
  • Create 508 compliant and accessible products to support and execute efforts for a federal client with IT-related communications strategies and services.
  • Experience working on communications for the VA or in other federal agencies.
  • Perform proficient Section 508 evaluation, testing and remediation of file types such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Adobe PDF to ensure access to persons with disabilities who utilize screen readers or other assistive technologies.
  • Ensure all communication products adhere to accessibility standards as defined by the client, starting with document owner and content producer.
  • Conduct 508-compliance checks on communication products before releasing for posting to the website or releasing products for public viewing.
  • Create 508-compliant starter templates, review and test content created within templates. Create 508-compliant job aids, artifacts, etc., and provide hands-on learning for any questions or challenges that arise.
  • Perform quality control reviews of documents and deliverables for Section 508 compliance.
  • Utilize software tools to identify errors in document structure, headings, reading order, images, charts and tables, and any other document errors as they occur.
  • Understanding of accessibility testing, tools, and standards (Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act).
  • Liaise and communicate with stakeholders to and senior team members to review artifacts for 508 compliance and remediate any found issues.
  • Define and document processes for the lifecycle of creating accessible documents, testing, remediating, and publishing.


Must Have's
  • Accessibility experience in making products 508 complaint for a wide range of products including outreach products, presentation briefing decks, and informational graphics.
  • Demonstrated experience in remediation of content for artifacts in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF content to remediate and test

As required by local law, Accenture Federal Services provides reasonable ranges of compensation for hired roles based on labor costs in the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, New York, Washington, and the District of Columbia. The base pay range for this position in these locations is shown below. Compensation for roles at Accenture Federal Services varies depending on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to office location, role, skill set and level of experience. The pay range for the states of California, Colorado, Hawaii, New York, Washington, and the District of Columbia is:

$62,100-$120,000 USD
