About the role
We are seeking a Life Sciences Design Lead based from any of our offices in the US (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, and Philadelphia) The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Life Sciences, Higher Education, and Corporate markets.
What you’ll do
· Lead and provide overall direction to Manage Design and Design teams within the laboratory and life sciences build environment. Leading project teams in design, marketing, and securing projects through CBRE’s global network.
· Implement Laboratory best practices, research R&D facility trends, and provide innovative solutions for modular/flexible lab space of the future. Understand the build-environment, be technically sound in the understanding of the research, and provide the client and CBRE with purposeful pre-positioning within life sciences, physical sciences, bio-containment, animal research, and cGMP/CDMO facilities.
· Provide client oversight throughout project execution, including conformance to client expectations for technical/quality, financial, and schedule performance.
· Maintain client relations following the completion of projects.
· Provide leadership of concurrent projects and related multidisciplinary teams – planning, directing, coordinating, and monitoring all aspects of projects.
· Support CBRE internal resources in enabling project team performance and project success.
· The ability to build a team of subject-matter experts to grow CBRE Design Collective within the life sciences and R&D architectural market.
· Provide flexibility and nimbleness to internal CBRE personnel and be a liaison to a variety of the CBRE business lines.
· Speak to, interact, and interview with CBRE personnel to showcase CBRE Design Collective capabilities within this sector.
· Implement sustainability initiatives within design parameters
· Responsible for business development and handling client accounts, often as the primary daily contact with clients in critical facilities, life sciences, and higher education.
· Responsible for the management and success of projects, including design quality, financial management, client satisfaction, and team management.
· Conduct design reviews with the team to promote innovative design solutions.
· Interpret and execute contracts.
· Coordinate staffing/work plans to provide the required scope of work and assign team duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
· Review contract documents for completeness and organization. Prepares and manages budgets, and construction/procurement budgets.
· Identify and prepare project proposals and add services with review from the studio and project leadership.
· Implement and coordinate the QA/QC process within the project schedule.
· Documentation coordination with consultants (structural, MEP, lighting, AV, acoustical, accessibility, building envelope, life safety, etc.)
· Other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
· Bachelor's Degree (B.S. or B.Arch.) or Master's Degree (M. Arch) in Architecture from a four-year college or university with an accredited architectural curriculum (National Architectural Accrediting Board or Canadian Architectural Certification Board). Minimum of five or more years of relevant experience required, 8 years preferred. Licensure as either a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect is desired.
· Proven experience in the design and delivery of new construction architecture projects and critical Life Sciences and lab programs including R&D labs, vivarium facilities, and cGMP manufacturing spaces is highly desired.
· Ability to grow and manage a technical team and help expand our presence in Life Sciences nationwide.
· Collaborative, respectful, and enjoy working together with a team and the ability to present ideas and work in a team-focused manner.
· Self-motivated, highly organized, detail-oriented, and caring about producing the best product possible.
· The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
· Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
· Passionate about design and developing your talents with xxpert interpersonal skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
· Experience with AutoCAD and construction management tools such as Procore a plus. Proficiency with Revit, Bluebeam, and Adobe Creative Suite.
· In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.
This is not a remote position; the selected candidate will be based in one of our Design Studios located in the US (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, New York, and Philadelphia).

The minimum salary for the position is $110,000 annually and the maximum salary for the position is $130,000 annually.
