Job Description

The EP Technician acquires, maintains, and integrates knowledge of scientific principles, and derived technology-based interventions and therapies under the direct supervision of the physician. This position educates patients regarding procedures; addresses and communicates patient concerns regarding devices to physicians; administer, monitor and reprogram devices and maintains documentation of reported information.

Responsibilities

Performs cardiac rhythm management device evaluation via device interrogation; analysis and reprogramming based on individual patient needs and recommended and approved guidelines. Programs device parameters, controlling for optimal safety, longevity and needs of the patient. Recognizes and notifies supervisor and/or doctor of any suspected problems regarding malfunction of pacemaker, recommended replacement times, and arrhythmias. Documents findings and parameters and communicates relevant information. Applies technical knowledge to minimize device related symptoms and related complications. Participates in the monitoring of patients with devices under advisory or recall to include implementing appropriate/recommended strategies, educating the families. Utilizes PaceArt database for patient and device tracking, scheduling, billing and documentation of follow-up. Maintains equipment and supplies efficiently and appropriately. Utilizes effective communication skills with patients and/or family members to maintain cooperation and compliance with device follow-up and management. Answers patient calls and requests in a timely and appropriate manner. Maintains patient charts and other departmental data, preparing and providing information as required/requested. Maintains current knowledge/certification. Pursues professional growth and development.Assist in other duties as assigned to support the operational needs of the department and organization. May be required to remain on campus immediately before, during, and after severe weather and/or disasters.
