Data Protection and Storage Engineer
Purpose:
Definition, maintenance, and support of Operational Smart Grids (OSG) infrastructure operational policies, standards, best practices, procedures, tools and projects in support of efficient, resilient, and secure operations of OSG supported applications and facilities.
Works with technical teams and external vendors to provide operational support for a diverse set of operational enterprise services. Monitor operational performance to identify opportunities for improvement. Align the operational requirements with relevant global/corporate operational requirement(s), security framework(s) and/or associated regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities
:
Provide timely responses to all incidents, tasks and requests assigned to meet Service Level Agreements.Work with internal clients, suppliers/contractors, project teams and other technical staff to identify, design and support technical solutions.Provide input into design of environments for improvements or project needsProvide maintenance of infrastructure technologies following the change management process.Lead the technical implementation plans in support of infrastructure technologies.Lead the evaluation, selection, and testing of hardware and software products.Maintain regulatory compliance under NERC-CIP guidelines.Oversee equipment maintenance, lifecycle replacement, and inventoryResponsible for day-to-day operations of data protection, storage, and appliances.Perform/coordinate special assignments from OSG Infrastructure Management.Provide 24x7 on call support.Provide professional and technical mentoring for team members.Travel as required within the US and to Europe
Key Technical Working Skills:
In-depth knowledge of data protection platforms, Unix/Linux, and windows (physical and virtual)In-depth knowledge of professional standards and trends within areas of expertise.Solaris 10/11, Oracle Linux, RedHat, Windows Server, VMWareVeritas data protection platformOracle X86 Servers, ZFS, Exadataresearching and developing policies, standards, and proceduresautomation toolsscripting at an intermediate to expert level

Qualifications: (minimum for assignment to this job)
Education: BS/BA Degree in Business, Computer Science or other technical discipline. Will consider additional years of relevant experience (10+ years) and/or related technical certifications in lieu of degree requirement (in accordance with the FLSA Computer Professionals Exemption)
Education and Experience Require ents: Meet at least one of the following:
AS Technical Related Degree with 8 years of technical experienceBS Technical Related Degree with 6 years of technical experienceMS Technical Related Degree with 4 years of technical experience
Required Experience:
Experience with Linux/Unix system administration.Experience with Automation tools and scripting.Experience with backup and storage platforms.Working knowledge of the regulatory environment for utility companies including NERC CIP. (preferred)
Other Experience:
Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of experience working with infrastructure solutions in an enterprise environment.
Position requires professional experience with more than one of the following areas: UNIX Operating Systems (OS), Linux Operating Systems (OS), Data Protection Platforms, Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity Planning & Execution, Technical Project Coordination, Storage Platforms, Oracle Exadata, Oracle ZFS
Fundamental understanding of Networking, Active Directory, VMwar
