Primary ResponsibilitiesWe are looking for a creative, self-motivated, and conscientious team player with the ability to communicate design and planning concepts both graphically and verbally. This position requires a versatile entry-level professional who is eager to learn and values the opportunity for professional development through collaboration on multi-disciplinary teams. Growth and advancement opportunities will be dependent on the successful candidate's ability to demonstrate skills and assume responsibility.In the role of Landscape Design Coordinator, we'll count on you to:
Support landscape and urban design projects simultaneously and interact and coordinate effectively with other team membersDevelop and advance design thinking and concepts in project work and studio cultureLeverage design and graphic talent, including computer and hand graphic skills, on a variety of projects for private and public clientsCreate concept and detailed drawings using 2D and 3D digital illustration and computational design tools, free hand drawing, and renderingClearly communicate design and planning concepts in writing and in spoken presentationsCollaborate with architects, planners, engineers, and other disciplines on community-scaled design projectsEmbark upon or continue the path toward professional licensureBe an active participant in professional organizationsWork under the direction of registered Landscape Architect to assist in development of site design projects, from concept design to construction documentationUnderstand that assignments have specified objectives and require investigation of many variables, including site analysis, building operation, vehicular and pedestrian traffic, site grading and storm drainageConduct site visits and analyses, and assist the project Landscape Architect with illustration of design using combination of hand-drawn and computer-rendered graphicsProvide AutoCAD production support during concept and schematic design, design development, and construction document phasesPerform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degreeMinimum 3 years of professional work experience in the field of landscape architectureInternships or prior work experience as landscape designer/urban designerProficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, advanced 3D modeling, computational design and rendering with programs such as Grasshopper, Lumion, Enscape, and VRayExcellent communication, time management, graphic and organizational skillsHand sketching and drawing skillsUnderstanding of technical aspects of landscape architecture and associated terminology including construction materials and processes, grading and drainage, plant materials and planting designKnowledge of the range of typical design activities, including site analysis, master planning, site planning, conceptual development, and construction documentation preparation and project implementationPrevious design office experienceField experience
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture or Civil EngineeringAutoCAD, Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel experiencePhotoshop a plusAbility to prepare site plans and understand the principles of grading and drainageStrong oral and written communication skillsAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a mustWhat We BelieveHDR is our company.
