Job Description:Summary:The person in this position will work with multidisciplinary project teams, providing mineral and chemical process engineering design and calculations and related technical/engineering support for a variety of applications. Work may include conducting process design and analysis, detailed process mass and energy balance modeling, and laboratory and pilot plant testing; developing process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams; developing technical reports and equipment specifications; estimating capital and operating costs; and sizing process piping and equipment. Projects will entail working with base and precious metals, industrial minerals and evaporites, coal, and chemicals and fuels. The work may require short-term, out-of-town work assignments and hands-on fieldwork. Please submit your transcripts with your application.Minimum Qualifications:Ongoing enrollment in a chemical, metallurgy, minerals processing, or materials science engineering degree programIntrinsic motivation with an emphasis on client service and interest in growing a career in environmental consultingStrong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with project team members, regulators, and clientsStrong technical and problem-solving skills including attention to detail, accuracy, and completenessStrong data analysis skills, including the use of spreadsheetsWillingness to travel and periodically adjust personal schedule to meet project needsLegal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship from Barr, now or in the futurePossession of a valid driver's license and acceptable driving recordPreferred Qualifications:Experience with Aspen or ChemCADA hybrid work arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office. This position is based out of Barr's Ann Arbor, Michigan, office.NOTE: Some work locations may feature rough terrain typical of construction sites, working on tall structures, or with industrial equipment. Safety training will be provided prior to being given work assignments on such sites.
