Unit Specifics:
Number of Beds: 54; 11 beds on a busy and dedicated ortho/spine unit
Patient Ratios: 1:5-6 for RNs; 1:12-15 for PCTs; RN/LPN team would have 10 total. Each hall has 2-3 RNs/1 LPN (as staffing/census allows) and 1-2 PCTs.
Unit staffing description: Unit secretaries until 8p during weekdays. Techs and Externs availability. RN/LPN teams.
Type of equipment: Alaris pumps, remote telemetry, continuous pulse ox, specialty beds, transfer equipment, wound vacs, chest tubes, NG and feeding tubes, etc.
Documentation system: Meditech
Scheduling requirements: At least one weekend within 4-week period. (May be split up) blocked scheduling case by case basis.
Floating policy: Floating within unit s discretion.
Patient Experience requirements: At least 1 year of RN experience.
Patient Break Down: all medical-surgical patients, orthopedic and spine patients on the designated floor, trauma patients, psych medical hold patients, etc.

Certifications: BLS, ACLS (optional), active RN license

Requested Skill Set: Punctual, time management, organized, team player, positive attitude, effective communicator, self-starter.
Must have: 1 year of M/S experience, ability to jump in and learn quickly.
Advanced skills needed: Thorough assessment skills, prioritization skills, critical thinking, and time management.
Procedures performed on unit: General Medical/Surgical procedures and patient population including post-catheterizations w/o intervention, lap appy/chole, thoracentesis/paracentesis, special procedures performed by IR, dedicated Spine and Joint Unit, stable traumas, HD/peritoneal dialysis, CBI, etc.
Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS (Optional)
