PRIMARY DUTIES

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Chief Philanthropy Officer and serving on the Development Leadership Team, the Director of Development Operations will oversee and optimize the development operations of the revenue department, ensuring effective and efficient fundraising efforts. This role will focus on strengthening operational processes, implementing best practices, and leveraging data to help drive successful fundraising initiatives.

The Director of Development Operations is a core member of a development team that raises more than $70M each year. The Director leads a team of five full time staff that collaborates with LifeMoves frontline fundraisers, Finance department, and Marketing team. The Director also serves on the Development Leadership Team, a 6-person team responsible for driving accountability, facilitating collaboration across teams, inputting into decisions, socializing change, and upholding our department values.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and ImplementationDevelop and execute strategic plans - a team blueprint and technology roadmap - for Development Operations to align with the Development department's overall fundraising goals and missionDevelop and implement operational strategies to support the organization's fundraising goals.Lead the development and execution of long-term development operations plans to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of fundraising operations.Collaborate with senior leaders to align development operations with the overall objectives of the department and mission of the organization.In partnership with Director of Corporate and Community Engagement, develop the strategy to select, implement, and launch a new volunteer management platform.Leadership and Management

Collaborate as a member of the Development Leadership Team, supporting cross-team partnerships and a department of trust, collaboration, and accountability.Serve as a positive team culture influencer across the ~30-person Development department.Supervise, mentor, coach, and foster professional development for a team of 5 staff including a Senior Salesforce Administrator, Data Analyst, Development Operations Manager, Development Data Associate, and Donor Database Manager.To support strategic growth, lead the optimization of team resources, analyzing activities and determining which to continue doing and which to refine or repurpose so that the team focuses their time on the best opportunities and outcomes for our clients.Revenue Projections, Performance Metrics, and Fundraising Data Analytics:

Lead Development in the annual and quarterly processes for revenue projections.Lead ongoing monitoring and resolution of reporting variances.Lead the building and implementation of a robust data analytics program for ongoing assessing and improvement of fundraising strategies, including campaign effectiveness, revenue projections, opportunities, areas for improvement, actionable insights, and donor trends.Budget & Resource Management:

Develop and manage the budget for development operations, including technology investments and operational expenses.Collaborate with senior leaders to allocate team resources strategically in support ofDevelopment goalsIdentify and pursue opportunities for cost savings, increased efficiency, and revenue enhancementManage relationships with external vendors and service providers, ensuring cost effectiveness, contract compliance and optimal service delivery.Project and Change Management:

Lead projects related to development operations, including process improvements, technology upgrades, and system integrations.Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution and timely delivery of results.Drive change management initiatives to support the adoption of new technologies and processes within the Development department.Lead the provision of, and directly provide, training and support to staff on new systems, tools, and procedures.Salesforce Administration:

Oversee the administration and optimization of Salesforce, ensuring the system effectively supports our fundraising activities.Oversee the management of data integrity, including regular audits and troubleshooting to maintain accurate donor information and reporting.Oversee the implementation of Salesforce integrations with other tools and platforms used by the Development team.Gift processing and data management

In partnership with the Finance department, manage payment processing systems for donations and address any issues related to payment processing, including troubleshooting and resolving transaction discrepancies.Streamline and optimize the management of donor data, ensuring accuracy, security, and compliance with relevant gift processing regulations and financial reporting.Ensure timely and accurate management of data related to appeals, events, outreach, and campaigns.Work closely with the Development team to ensure seamless integration between campaign strategies and operational processes.Lead the resolution of issues related to campaign operations, including troubleshooting and process improvements.Position Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred.Minimum of 10 years of experience in development operations, data management, or a related field, with a strong focus on fundraising analytics and Salesforce administrationMinimum of 5 years in a leadership roleStrong proficiency in Salesforce required, with a preference for Salesforce NPSP or Cloud and related tools. Salesforce Administration Certificate preferred.Experience managing a high-performing development operations teamProven experience in managing gift processing and operational support for fundraising campaigns, or similar experience.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.Proven experience in project management and change management within a nonprofit or similar setting.Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong knowledge of fundraising best practices and basic regulatory requirements related to gift processing.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
