Job Title: NLC Registered Nurse/NLC Licensed School Nurse
Supervisor: Executive Director/Director of Special Education
Purpose
The NLC Registered Nurse/NLC Licensed School Nurse serves as a leader for nine
school districts. This position will have a heavy emphasis on Special Education
evaluations, duties associated with Third Party Billing, supervision of Licensed
Practical Nurses in member districts and early childhood screenings. Other areas of
NLC Cooperative support may also be included in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. To provide direct health services to all students under the supervision of a
Licensed School Nurse and Principal.
2. Secure and maintain individual electronic health records for each student.
3. Review electronic, paper, and emergency health records to determine emergency
health conditions, special health needs, and complete appropriate care plans as
delegated by the Licensed School Nurse.
4. Review immunization records and ensure student's compliance with the MN
Immunization Law.
5. Work with districts to develop a consistent way medication, documentation and
records are secured and maintained.
6. Assist/supervise the direct health needs of each student including illness, injury,
emergency care, medications, special health needs to appropriately trained
and/or licensed staff.
7. Conduct vision, hearing, height, weight, scoliosis, and lice screenings according
to the District protocol. Referral and follow-up as directed by the Licensed School
Nurse.
8. Contact Parents/Guardians, Physicians, Health Care Providers, Mental Health
Providers, Social Services, Counseling, Therapists as necessary to ensure each
student's health and safety needs are met (i.e., current Physician order every year
for medication).
9. Assist districts with staff training for the building regarding the students' health
needs.
10. Oversee the direct nursing care as specified on IEP's, IHP's, and section 504 plans
that are carried out by appropriately trained and/or licensed staff.
11. Provide Special Education health assessments for IEP's, medication
management, chronic disease management and Third Party Billing supervision as
needed.
12. Participate in NLC early childhood screenings.
13. Other duties as assigned.
Required Education
-Bachelor's Degree
- Licensed School Nurse (LSN) or Licensed Public Health Nurse
Experience and Qualifications
-Experience working in schools is preferred but not required.
-CPR/First Aid certification is preferred but not required.

? Remain calm when stressed.
? Initiate getting work completed and is a self-starter.
? Reliable and dependable to follow a schedule that serves all districts.
