Following initial screening, applicants will be informed regarding the necessity of an interview. As a condition of employment the successful candidate will be required to be fingerprinted and drug tested (at department expense), have a medical examination (at department expense), provide verification of high school completion or equivalent, sign a loyalty oath, produce evidence of a negative tuberculosis test (at candidate's expense), and provide documentation of eligibility to be employed in the United States.
NOTE to TCDE employees:Employees that apply for a promotional opportunity will typically be placed on step one of the new higher classification. If step one is lower than their current salary, they will be placed at a step that provides for at least a 5% increase. If they have previous experience in a same higher classification they will be placed commensurate with that verified experience (lower classification experience does not apply to higher classifications).
