OverviewCome join our dynamic Product Design team! We support the Calcite Design System, which is used by product teams and Esri's external partners to create engaging and consistent user experiences across mapping applications. The Calcite team collaborates with over 50 product teams at Esri, helping them make the most of Calcite components, tokens, styles, iconography, documentation, and accessibility standards. Conduct thorough user research to grasp product needs. Integrate these insights into new component and feature enhancements. Lead design review sessions with Calcite team members and stakeholders to incorporate feedback thoughtfully into your workEducation and Advocacy:
Take a central role in educating over 50+ Esri product teams on Calcite standards. Deliver presentations, demos, and participate in Design Office Hours to ensure broad comprehension and adoption of Calcite guidelines. Collaborate with internal research teams to obtain vital insights, refining and improving the design system continuouslyPartnership Development:
Serve as a primary liaison, cultivating strong relationships with Esri product teams. Collaborate to ensure smooth integration and consistent application of Calcite components across diverse projects. Provide regular updates and communications to company stakeholders, ensuring their visibility and understanding of Calcite efforts, initiatives, and deliverablesEnhancement of Calcite Figma Environment:
Contribute to the architecture and continuous improvement of the Calcite Figma environment. Work closely with fellow designers and front-end engineers to enhance UI kits, foundations, and tokens, aligning them with evolving product team needsAccessibility and Usability:
Collaborate with internal accessibility resources to ensure adherence to WCAG and other industry standards within the Calcite Design System. Guide product teams and partners in crafting inclusive, accessible products and experiences. Maintain detailed documentation for Calcite components on the Design System site, ensuring clarity and precision in usage guidelines for all users
Requirements8+ Years of experience designing and delivering products for both web and mobile platformsShowcase a portfolio illustrating successful management of design systems, highlighting expertise in this areaExtensive experience and deep understanding of adhering to WCAG 2.0/Section 508 Compliance and other industry guidelines, ensuring inclusive design practicesAbility to facilitate workshops and present to large audiences, effectively communicating design concepts and ideasStrong written and verbal communication skills essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholdersPassion for continuous improvement and advocacy for leveraging innovative design and front-end practices to drive excellenceExperience using Figma, Figma UI Kits, adhering to established pattern libraries and required frameworksBachelor's in human-computer interaction, user experience, interaction design, applied social science, or a related field.
