JRAD is seeking candidates for a Laboratory Manager in Washington, DC.The Laboratory Manager supports all shifts and areas on-site including Biology and Chemistry laboratories. The Laboratory Manager coordinates waste disposal; oversees maintenance, calibration, certification, and repair of instrumentation, equipment, and engineering controls; ensures calibration, certification, maintenance, and repair scheduling and tracking is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with ISO17025; orders and maintains inventory of laboratory supplies, consumables, and reagents; develops recommendations for lifecycle replacement of critical laboratory components; manages laboratory service agreements in conjunction with Government representative.Roles/Responsibilities:Oversees inventory management for all laboratory materials, consumables, equipment, instrumentation, and engineering controlsProvides reports detailing inventory levels, burn rates, projected needs, schedules, personnel statusCoordinates ordering of supplies, materials, and consumablesCoordinates service agreements for preventative maintenance, repair, calibration, certification of laboratory instrumentation, equipment, and engineering controlsCoordinates laboratory instrument and equipment maintenance, repair, certification, and calibration, including access, record keeping, and scheduling in accordance with ISO 17025 requirements and Government policiesCoordinates basic safety and waste disposalIn conjunction with Government representative, coordinates facility maintenance requests for the laboratoryIn conjunction with Government representative, provides recommendations for lifecycle replacement of instruments, equipment, engineering controls, new technology purchases, and material replacements and/or changesPerforms laboratory procedure reviews/recommendationsProvides recommendations for laboratory research and development projects and new technologiesServes as a backup for the Laboratory Quality ManagerRequired Skills and Education:Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a biological, chemical, or physical science related field3-5 years of recent related laboratory work experience in a certified (e.g., EPA, NELAC, ISO17025) public health or environmental laboratory2 years of demonstrated laboratory management, leadership and decision-making experience2 years of progressively complex hands-on experience in applicable analytical methodsExtensive experience with laboratory safety and hazardous waste disposalSecurity Clearance:Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance and DHS SuitabilityWhen you work for JRAD you will never be just a number.
