Chief Financial OfficerA large real estate investment organization is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its progressive corporate finance team. This individual will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of accounting, finance, and overall departmental management of the Company, to include the development of a financial strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve and maximize the value of company assets and report accurate financial results.ResponsibilitiesActs as a primary point of contact and lead the coordination with property management accounting departments, lenders, accounting auditors, tax consultants, and insurance brokers and third-party adjusters.Ensures compliance with federal, state, local, and organizational laws, regulations, guidelines, and best practices, including tax laws, SEC disclosures and investor requirements, GAAP, and valuation measurements.Manage the timely and accurate preparation and consolidation of monthly and annual GAAP financial statements across 36 properties and associated legal entities that meet SEC, IRS, lender, and internal company requirements.Manage the timely and accurate preparation of federal, state and local tax returns and payments for individual legal entities and Company. Always has an eye toward the tax consequences of business, operational, and transactional decisions. Ensures preparation and distribution of investor tax reporting documents such as K-1s and 1099s.Recommend and manage both monthly property-level and fund-level cash flow distributions to over 8,400 investors, considering current income, working capital, capital reserves and cash balances.Work together with asset managers to ensure the development and monitoring of individual property investments, including budgets and forecasts, performance measurement, and debt covenants and other lender requirements.Develops a reliable internal management reporting process and cadence, particularly short- and long-range financial forecasts, key performance indicators, and management dashboards and flash reports.Participate in the review and negotiation of terms sheets and legal documents related to the acquisition and disposition of real estate assets and debt financings. Participate in equity fundraising effort through preparation of legal, regulatory, and marketing documentation.Lead successful end-to-end migration of Company accounting platform to MRI from QuickBooks to ensure accounting and finance department keeps pace with rapid Company growth.Reviews policies, procedures, systems, and workflow on a regular basis. Develops, updates, and implements operational efficiencies by way of technology to reduce operating expenses and further Company goals.QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business-related field.Real Estate experience (investment, PE fund, family office) is a must.CPA (including work experience in a national public accounting firm) strongly preferred.Expert knowledge of GAAP, public and private equity fund legal, compliance and reporting requirements, and real estate tax.Demonstrated experience leading an accounting software migration.Experience with multiple entity business income flow via a large portfolio of real estate assets preferred.The ability to multi-task with efficiency, poise and confidence in a fast-paced environment is critical.Expert in MRI, Yardi, QuickBooks and Excel.Strong and demonstrated knowledge of real estate business, accounting, and tax principles.10+ years of progressive management experience in the real estate investment sector including 5 years in a senior financial leadership role.
