SOME (So Others Might Eat) exists to help homeless and poor individuals and families in Washington, DC. Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing. We meet immediate needs with food, clothing, and healthcare and offer the tools one needs to live with hope, dignity, and greater independence.
Compensation:
We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The salary range for this position is $53,705.00 to $63,107.00 and may be commensurate with experience.
SOME (So Others Might Eat) is seeking a dedicated and experienced
Manager, Janitorial Services
to support our Property Management Team. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the maintenance and cleanliness of the facilities within our portfolio, creating a comfortable and dignified living environment for the residents we serve. This position involves hands-on cleaning, conducting minor maintenance tasks, and providing leadership and training to porters and janitorial staff.
Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm (40 hours per week)
Required:
Some High School Education or GED, 1+ years janitorial experience
Preferred:
High School diploma/GED; Experience providing services to low-income populations, families, and seniors preferred. CPR/First Aid, AED preferred.
Required License/Certification:
Must possess and maintain a vehicle and valid driver's license as well as personal car liability insurance coverage. This is a contingency of employment. The vehicle should be safe and reliable (mileage will be reimbursed).

Maintenance & Grounds
Follows maintenance checklist to ensure facilities are safe and presentableProvides regular cleaning of all common areas, bathrooms, lounges, kitchens, etc.Maintains building exterior through regular cleaning and ground maintenanceCoordinates daily trash collections, empties trash containers and manages bulk or regular pick-upCoordinate quarterly deep cleaningsMaintain inventory of cleaning, maintenance and building suppliesProvides training on cleaning techniques, as neededProvides snow and ice removal from walkways
