YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESAs Bayer Crop Science's digital farming arm, we advance regenerative agriculture and technology breakthroughs using the latest agronomic science, data science, engineering, and real-world farming experience. With groundbreaking technologies like Climate FieldView and our ForGround regenerative agriculture platform, our team is a part of some of the most important advancements in ag.Digital Farming Solutions is revolutionizing the agriculture industry with a platform and product that are helping the world's farmers sustainably increase productivity with digital tools. The Principal Solutions Architect plays a crucial strategic role for driving the architectural vision for near- and long-term needs for our technical communities. They are responsible for identifying key industry trends and providing thought leadership and best practices that benefit the broader organization. The Principal Solutions Architect will have a keen eye for architecture, strategy, and building consensus among disparate teams, while acting as a key conduit for aligning long-term strategy with high-value, agile delivery.The Principal Solutions Architect will additionally hold accountability to scope, plan, and deliver prioritized infrastructure projects. With a keen eye, coordinate with key stakeholders to define concrete requirements for initiatives and work alongside Engineering partners to obtain alignment and drive deliverables.Ownership and delivery of the Science organization's future-state strategic and architectural vision, working to define, align, and contextualize key initiatives in relation to the broader organization and create and maintain technical roadmaps and designs.Acting as the representative of the Science organization to leadership and diverse teams across Digital Farming Solutions and Bayer Crop Science to propel the Science organization's strategic vision forward while maintaining alignment between stakeholders.Driving engagement with Business Units to ensure alignment on common tooling and practices related to data science.Working closely with stakeholders to prioritize and plan delivery of proposed initiatives, collaborating to decompose stories, identify triage candidates where necessary, and review requirements with accountable/impacted teams to orchestrate successful delivery.Completing review and requirements gathering for candidate initiatives proposed by teams and identifying key risks and impacts.Orchestrating with teams to identify up/downstream dependencies, align on project success metrics and create a delivery strategy/timeline.Assist with the creation of solution designs including the technical design patterns and standards associated with projects.Decomposition of candidate initiatives and capture of individual epics/stories/subtasks in Jira. Subsequent prioritization and assignment of stories to appropriate team(s).Facilitating triage meetings to identify and strategize delivery of work items that require accelerated intervention.Support teams and leaders across the Science technical community to review progress of key initiatives, and act as a technical and strategic advisor where applicable.Keep abreast of the rapidly changing technology landscape, to ensure that the right balance of new and emerging and current methods are applied to achieve domain outcomes for the Science organization.Creating and updating one-pagers and architecture documents and diagrams as systems evolve and change with completion of work initiatives. Ensuring knowledge-shared artifacts are updated and easily accessible across teams.WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:Required qualificationsMasters +8 years of experience or Bachelors +12 years of experience or Associate +14 years of experience with an excellent background of software architecture design and strategy with a fluent understanding of unique challenges presented by deploying data science and machine learning assets to live production systems.Proven experience steering strategic alignment between diverse teams to successfully deliver complex, cross-cutting initiatives to relevant internal and external stakeholders.Advanced understanding of Cloud Services (AWS, Azure, GCP), Data Warehouse and Data Lake Architectures with relevant comprehension of the ingestion of multiple types of data.Advanced knowledge and experience working with MLOps and Data Science pipelines, Gitlab CI/CD and version control, and continuous orchestration and containerized deployment frameworks (Kubernetes, Docker).Preferred qualifications5+ years' experience working in the digital agriculture space. This includes data science, geospatial analytics, data engineering, software development, field trial planning, and related fields working with genomics, geospatial, agronomic, field trials, and other related data assets.Possess excellent prioritization, contextualization, and interpersonal skills with a strategic reflective thinking mindset to understand the impacts, limitations, and dependencies of our data.Experience growing and developing resources through informal or formal reporting relationships.Experience with Python, R, and JVM languages (Java, Scala) with Data Science and Machine Learning libraries: Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.Experience working with geospatial data, libraries, and technology for dependencies.Technical depth and experience with modeling may be beneficial to help facilitate and coalesce business and technical requirements into a specific plan of action to the various Science and Engineering technical community teams that are accountable to delivering and implementing functionality.Excellent experience in data science lifecycle management with an appreciation from the initial data artifact into a completed model.Excellent experience with code review and optimization to work with automation and tooling teams.Experience with Domino Labs, AWS Sagemaker, JupyterLabs, and Vertex AI.WHAT WE OFFER
Base salary estimated range between $141,714 - $255,589 annually, depending on the hiring location.
