RoleUnder minimal supervision, the Senior Health Plan Benefit Specialist leads the day-to-day administration of the company's health and welfare programs, including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, COBRA, life insurance, and disability.Essential ResponsibilitiesLeads the workflow of other Health Plan Benefit Specialist(s), including prioritizing and auditing work to ensure it is done in a timely and accurate manner.Enters and audits employee-owner and applicable benefit data into HRIS (new employee-owners, changes to employee-owner data, benefits information, etc.). Maintains files ensuring compliance with regulation and Company policy.Reviews employee status changes Company-wide to determine applicable continuity of benefits.Audits all benefits paperwork for proper completion and supporting documentation; verifies employee eligibility.Audits employee-owner population to ensure eligible employee-owners are properly enrolled in HRIS.Researches and resolves employee-owner issues related to health and welfare plans and exercises judgment as to when to escalate to vendor for resolution.In coordination with People and Culture field team, manages benefit continuation and employee-owner health insurance premiums for employee-owners on a leave of absence.Shares responsibility for running eligibility files for submission to third-party administrators and is responsible for answering inquiries from third-party administrators regarding the data sent.Manages monthly premium billing and the preparation of vouchers to pay administrative fees for all group plans.Interfaces with third-party administrators to investigate discrepancies and claim issues and provide information in non-routine situations.Interfaces with payroll department and/or employee-owners to ensure proper benefits deductions or payments are made on a timely basis.Leads and manages the wellbeing program initiatives including communication plan.Assists with managing the annual Open Enrollment process.Creates and/or modifies employee-owner benefits communication materials.Creates and/or maintains various spreadsheets, databases and merge documents.Distributes legally required plan notices.Coordinates and conducts employee-owner benefit related meetings or fairs.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsAny combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:Six plus years' experience in health benefit plan operations.Experience in working with health plans with 300+ participants.Understands and is able to follow COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, PPACA and other benefit related laws.Computer application proficiency, including Microsoft Office suite of applications and using data to inform and set priorities and identify challenges/opportunities.
