The Director of Grants Management reports to the Chief Executive Officer. This role is primarily responsible for directing the work of the grants management team and setting priorities for applying, writing, monitoring, supporting, while ensuring effective grant administration and compliance for grants from foundations, and federal, state and county agencies. This includes direct grants management of a portfolio of private foundation grants, in coordination with program managers to ensure compliance with the terms and conditions of grant and contract agreements.

The Director is responsible for advising, directing, developing grants management team members, and assisting in building sustainable grants organization infrastructure, while working collaboratively across the organization to obtain data and identify grant opportunities that align with the organization's strategic goals. The director is responsible for tracking deadlines and reporting results for all institutional giving, ensuring appropriate connection with finance, communications, compliance, and analytics.

Essential Functions

Develop and maintain detailed work plans on key initiatives including project tasks, clear milestones, and assignments of work project responsibilities, schedules, plans, and status reports.Develop and maintain feedback mechanisms to ensure that the Chief Strategy Officer, CFO and Senior Leadership team and relevant staff are kept current regarding grant status for the portfolio, including spend down and risk.Assist the CSO in supporting the creation and execution of improved fundraising strategies and build database of stakeholders.Oversee a portfolio of foundation and government grants of more than $16 million, and conduct stewardship and cultivation activities that build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with project officers and other stakeholders.Adept at researching internally and externally options and models for grant programs.Ensure compliance with all funder requirements, in coordination with the Compliance Department.Identify and research new prospective funders in collaboration with the Grants Management team.Collaborate with CommUnityCare program staff to inform proposals and reports.Collaborate with the Finance department to develop budgets, monitor spending and other financial reporting.Collaborate with staff to manage necessary database records, files, reports, and source materials pertinent to foundation and government activities.Collaborate with Marketing & Communication to develop and share news of grant awards and outcomes.Maintain a development calendar (grants and philanthropy) that ensures all institutional funding deadlines are met with sufficient time for input, develop quarterly internal reports, and facilitate regular outreach to funders.Regularly interface with analytics, quality, and patient access teams.Uses expertise to evaluate data and data sets, including creating pivot table, charts to increase competitiveness of grants.Applies a strategic lens to evaluating grant opportunities for fit, programming lift and administrative burden.Maintains knowledge of best practices in grant fundraising and trends in the nonprofit and FQHC health care sectors; recommends new/updated grant application strategies as appropriate.Other duties as required.

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Social Science, Communications, or related field required.Master's degree in Business Administration, Social Science, Communications, Public Health or related field preferred.

EXPERIENCE

5 years of experience managing cross-functional grants (pre-award and post-award) for governmental or non-governmental organizations, consulting firms, or corporations (Experience should include nonprofit fundraising, grant-writing and grants management; programmatic experience in healthcare and/or social services) required.Experience directing and managing teams required.7 years of experience, including director level managing grant portfolios for governmental or non-governmental organizations, consulting firms, or corporations preferred.Experience in preparing and executing budgets, project management, strategic planning and grants management preferred.Experience managing grant funded programs in an outpatient medical setting, organization supporting public health, or a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) preferred.
