The Apple Services Engineering (ASE) organization is responsible for building powerful platforms that enable engineers to deliver incredible experiences to customers. Our compute team is responsible for designing and building the foundational pieces of our in-house cloud technologies. In this role, you will collaborate with teams across Apple to deliver forward-looking high-performance distributed storage solutions for various cloud platforms. The successful candidate is a highly motivated individual with strong technical and communication skills to create intuitive user experiences, who is passionate about quality, and has a keen eye for the details that surprise and delight our customers. Join this team, and you'll help us create and deploy storage systems that support Apple's world-renowned hardware and software architecture.DescriptionIn this role you will be responsible for developing, debugging, and maintaining disaggregated storage software solutions for various cloud platforms. You will:Closely collaborate with teams within and across organizationsDesign, implement, and debug software componentsWrite and review code, generate and review design documentationParticipate in qualifications and rollouts of software to production clustersBenchmark, analyze, and improve scale, performance, and resiliency issuesHold yourself and others to a high-quality standard expected of Apple productsMinimum QualificationsStrong systems programming skills and knowledge of operating system fundamentals.BS with 2+ years of experience in system software development or MS in Computer ScienceFluency in Go (Golang) in a systems contextStrong understanding of concurrency, parallelism and distributed systems concepts.Ability to effectively communicate within a team and with project stakeholdersExcellent problem-solving and analytical thinking skillsEnthusiastic about quality, design, and user experiencePreferred QualificationsExperience with distributed storage solutions such as ScaleIO, Ceph is a huge bonusExperience with Kubernetes and writing CSI pluginsExperience with using and building cloud technologies such as AWS, GCP, CloudStack or OpenStackExperience building software solutions in Java, C/C++, Python, SwiftPay & BenefitsAt Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $138,900 and $256,500, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
