Non-Exempt – Part TimePRIMARY FUNCTION:Teen Director Position is responsible for providing members with academic and cultural enrichment opportunities to include, but not limited to: service learning, art, sports and recreation, music, drama, dance, storytelling, and visits to museums and other places of interest. The position is also responsible for the overall life skill development of all members.KEY ROLES:Organization ResponsibilitiesPositively promote the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend through, but not limited to: talking to potential members, current members, parents, community members, schools, and any form of media.Participate in training sessions offered to develop knowledge of educational resources and techniques, and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Big Bend.Communicate with and support the Administrative and Executive Offices to continually enhance the level of services provided by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend.Follow organizational processes to have needs or concerns addressed.Promote understanding and acceptance of diversity with students, members, staff, and the community.Create exciting learning opportunities for all members who participate in the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend and opportunities to demonstrate positive personal and social success.Encourage member participation through enjoyment, challenge, and communication.Arrive at designated post on time, prepared, and organized to deliver educational and social services to all members.Communicate with the Club Director and Senior Youth Development Professional in advance of absence and/or needed time off, and maintain a Substitute Folder that outlines plans for the day’s events.Coordinate schedules and cultural activities through the Club Director and/or Senior Youth Development Professional for all community providers and provide support during the delivery of services.Develop weekly/daily lesson plans to be turned in to the Club Director and/or Senior Youth Development Professional and posted outside of the classroom.Record member attendance for each program and/or activity daily and submit to the Club Director and/or Senior Youth Development Professional by the end of each day.Plan a variety of enrichment activities for members each day that exposes them to various forms of art, culture, academics, and develops positive life skill traits.Inventory art, music, and craft supplies and ensure they remain on site and in good condition.Plan and communicate with staff and Club Director and/or Senior Youth Development Professional in developing and coordinating programs and activities.Assist with and provide information to develop each member’s Individual Learning Plan.Work with members, staff, the Club Director and/or the Senior Youth Development Professional to increase enrollment (ADA and annual membership) at the Club site.Assist the Club Director and/or Senior Youth Development Professional to increase parental involvement through participation in their child’s education and adult education services.Supervision ResponsibilitiesCommunicate with all staff to establish and enforce Club Norms and Expectations that all members and staff follow.Confront and de-escalate all negative and/or inappropriate behavior exhibited by members, staff, and visitors.Provide support to members and staff who confront negative and/or inappropriate behaviors.Provide neutralization to all members to allow them to continue to participate in programs and activities.Communicate member concerns and behaviors with staff, Club Director and/or Senior Youth Development Professional and provide documentation when necessary.Maintain visual awareness of all members at the beginning, throughout, and at the end of all programs and activities each day.Provide support during field trips and any off-campus trips.ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:As assigned by the Club Director and/or Senior Youth Development Professional.PROFESSIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:Internal:
Maintain contact and communication with club staff, volunteers, and club members.External:
Club Director and the Administrative and Executive Offices of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Big Bend.SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:Minimum of High School Diploma, some college preferred.Self-starters who take initiative, are organized, and creative.Experience working with youth in teaching music, art, or dance, or supervisory role.Experience in implementing academic and cultural activities for youth.Ability to serve as a role model and leader to members.Strong commitment to youth and families and a strong belief in their potential.Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating creative learning programs.
