Cobb Community Foundation (“CCF” or “Foundation”) is a grant-making public charity that ACTIVATES GOOD. Our mission is to be a catalyst for a thriving community – mobilizing people, ideas and resources to improve quality of life in and around Cobb. We accomplish this mission by creating and implementing collective giving strategies by and for our community, by offering charitable tools for individuals and organizations, by leading local efforts in community problem solving and by supporting local nonprofits and helping them to build their capacity.
On a day-to-day basis, we work closely with individuals and businesses who have established charitable funds, non-profits who are serving our community, and other community stakeholders who, like us, are working to create in Cobb an even higher quality of life.
Position Purpose and Overview
The Communications and Marketing Manager oversees implementation of marketing and communications efforts to generate awareness for CCF, engage current and prospective donors, and engage with nonprofit/community partners. This individual manages the continued development and implementation of a comprehensive, company-wide external communications plan. This role is responsible for managing and executing CCF’s multimedia outreach, digital communications such as website and social media, internal and external messaging, public relations and branding guidelines.
Responsibilities
COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING
Implement established communications plan to meet our organization’s objectives—and regularly measure progress
Drive behavior change / belief acceptance
Generate new donors and donations from existing donors
Generate new clients/users
Drive attendance at events
Oversee annual communications planning process, in collaboration with CCF team and agency partners
Oversee communications budget and ensure best use of resources
Ensure brand standards are maintained in all marketing efforts
Serve as the writer and chief content creator for all materials and platforms, including email, website, newsletters, press releases, social media, annual reports, video, and the like:
Manage social media approach, editorial calendar, content development, and implementation
Manage messages and comments/responses on social channels
Manage, maintain and develop content for CCF’s blog
Write, design and distribute CCF’s e-mail blasts and newsletters
Maintain CCF website and manage website content
Serve as primary contact for creative partners for graphic design, video, web development, and other skill sets needed to accomplish the plan
Assist staff with presentation development, packaging presentations to be engaging and polished
With Office Manager and other appropriate team members, maintain and refine contact database
Evaluate results of campaigns to support the development and refinement of future plans
Prepare reports for CCF leadership on activities and communications performance
PUBLIC & COMMUNITY RELATIONS
Manage all media contacts and foster relationships with media; serve as organizational spokesperson as needed
Write and issue all press releases, fact sheets, testimonials and related materials; seek out, create and pitch new story ideas
Participate in related community activities and promote the organization’s mission and programs throughout the community
EVENTS
Develop and oversee online registration process for all events
Oversee development of promotional materials, collateral materials, and onsite attendee experience
Manage logistics for all events, virtual or otherwise
This position description is intended to be general and will evolve over time and is subject to periodic updating. All CCF team members are expected to work together, providing assistance to one another and sharing or temporarily transitioning responsibilities as needed to ensure that community, fundholder, donor, management and board expectations are met or exceeded and that all team members are able to succeed.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor’s Degree and 3 years minimum related work experience or minimum 5 years work experience in marketing, events, communications or related area
Successful track record with writing in multiple formats, including both short- and long-form
Project management experience using project management tracking tools such as Excel, Monday.com, or other project management systems
Professional social media experience, including extensive experience with Meta Business Suite
Extensive experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, email marketing platforms and basic graphic design tools such as Canva
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Proficiency with Monday.com, WordPress, ChatGPT, Adobe Creative Suite (basic Photoshop, basic InDesign), basic video editing tools such as iMovie, Google advertising/analytics tools, and other common marketing technology
Experience with shooting and editing videos for social media
Donor development communications experience, especially for planned giving or major gifts
Experience interviewing stakeholders and creating stories in multiple formats
Relationships with media and nonprofits in Cobb County
Certifications related to any of the above or related tools
SKILLS REQUIRED FOR SUCCESS
Superior writing skills across marketing channels, including email, social media, press releases, blog posts, and feature stories
Flair in both written and verbal presentations, as well as the ability to interact with senior management, boards of directors, donors, and community influencers
An eye for graphic design and basic graphics development. This is not a graphic design position, but it will require editing existing materials and digital media graphics from templates.
An eye for photography, with proficiency in capturing compelling photos with a smartphone or semiprofessional camera
Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to excel in a fast-paced environment
Ability to manage multiple tasks, define and set priorities and problem-solve
Ability to work independently or as a team

$55,000 - $65,000 depending on experience
