About the Department:The Center for the Arts is George Mason University's home for the performing arts on the Fairfax campus. Mason is Virginia's largest and most diverse public research university and the College of Visual and Performing Arts, which operates the Center for the Arts, serves hundreds of thousands of people through arts experiences each year.

About the Position:The Production Coordinator will work directly with the Production Manager to oversee all aspects of production at the Center for the Arts. Responsibilities include supplemental crew staffing and supervision, show advancement, stage management, administrative coordination, and organizing special project initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of theatre technology and practices, knowledge of stage management, and experience with various performance idioms (drama, dance, opera, musical, etc.). Candidates must have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant area or equivalent on-the-job experience.

Responsibilities:

Manage stage activities for specified Concert Hall events and adjunct activities.

Supervise crew wage employees, including staffing needs, scheduling, payroll, and communications for all events.

Prepare for assigned events as needed.

Coordinate technical information for booked events.

Assist the Production Manager with clerical and fiscal aspects of production and special project initiatives.

Assist with security and parking logistics of artist residency activities.

Produce event summary reports following each event in the Concert Hall.

Schedule and supervise wage production assistants and other wage stage managers.

Occasionally supervise crew for facility preparations for events.

Operate stage machinery such as lighting, audio, and rigging equipment as needed.

Perform general stage duties including preparations and restoration of facilities and equipment.

Participate in regular staff, event, and production meetings.

Coordinate stage management department with other production departments for effective overall management.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant area of theatre management or equivalent experience.

Knowledge of theatre technology, including lighting, sound, and staging.

Experience with a variety of performance idioms.

Ability to provide professional assistance and coordinate production elements.

Experience with scheduling, theatrical paperwork, and Microsoft Office Suite.

Knowledgeable in theatre technology and management.

Basic technical skills in lights, carpentry, audio, and rigging.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field.

Experience with creating and reading deck and cue calling paperwork.

Skills in leadership, collaboration, and initiative.
