WIC BREASTFEEDING/CHESTFEEDING PEER COUNSELORCommunity Action Pioneer Valley's WIC program is looking for a compassionate person who wants to make a difference in the lives of others. We seek a part-time breastfeeding peer counselor responsible for providing breast/chest feeding information and counseling to WIC participants at our Amherst/Northampton, MA locations.Responsibilities include:Attend breastfeeding training classes to become a peer counselor.Receive a caseload of WIC clients and make routine periodic contacts with all clients assigned.Provide follow through with each client.Provide basic breastfeeding information and support to new parents/caregivers including informing them about the benefits of breastfeeding, overcoming common barriers, and getting a good start with breastfeeding.Qualifications include:Experience breastfeeding at least one baby (does not have to be currently breastfeeding).Current or previous WIC participant.Enthusiasm about breastfeeding and the desire to help others enjoy breastfeeding.This is a part-time position of 10 hours per week.
