Several new engineering teams within the area of payments and Identity will be built from scratch in our Dreilinden office close to Berlin. We are looking for a Senior Software Architect (d/f/m)in Identity who will lead software architecture and innovation, follow closely on regulatory requirements, and implement code in our Identity organization. You will be the senior most Individual Contributor in the Identity organization, driving all technical topics related to Identity and Access Management (IAM) across several teams.You will report to a Senior Director of engineering, as well as work closely with the wider engineering team of the new engineering hub and our California-based teams in the Identity organization.It’s an outstanding opportunity to be part of a new team based on a collaborative, transparent and highly technical team culture.What you will accomplish:As most-senior software architect and engineer, you will steer multiple teams in Identity on all technical aspects.Help the more junior team members by mentoring and guiding them, drive architectural decisions, align technical decisions with the broader organization, and evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements.Understand requirements of new products and translate these requirements into a scalable software architecture.Follow regulation related to IAM (such as PSD2/Strong Customer Authentication) and actively participate in standardization bodies (such as FIDO Alliance, IETF, OpenID Foundation).Implement back-end web applications based on Java/Spring Boot that are used by millions of users.Assure delivery of high-quality software by setting up robust CI/CD pipelines, crafting and writing tests, contributing to code reviews and code debugging, and by writing documentation.Own major projects and features from design phase to coding, testing, deployment and support.Become a domain expert of the highly sophisticated ecosystem of Identity and Payments within eBay.What you will bring:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree, with 10 years of experience in the area of Identity and Access Management (IAM).In-depth experience in translating requirements into scalable and future-proof software architectures. Broad knowledge of design patterns and technologies used in crafting web applications.In-depth knowledge of IAM frameworks such as OAuth, SAML, OpenID Connect, x509 client authentication, user management, SSO, two-factor authentication methods (e.g., TOTP, FIDO2 Passkeys), etc.Proven understanding of networking, security, database design, and CI/CD pipelines.Proficiency and hands-on experiences in back-end development of RESTful web services using Java / Spring Boot / J2EE.Familiarity with IAM systems in the public cloud (e.g., AWS or GCP) would be a plus.eBay requires employees to be present in the Dreilinden office three days per week on averagePlease see the Talent Privacy Notice
