Summary:

The Central Iowa VA Health Care System is recruiting for a full-time, permanent ED Medicine Director position located in Des Moines, IA. The ED Medical Director will be responsible for the management and care provided in the ER.Responsibilities:

The VA Midwest Health Care Network advocates for a Whole Health System of care in each of the Medical Centers. This approach empowers individuals to take charge of their health and well-being. As an employee, you will operate in a model with three core elements, creating a personalized health plan for each Veteran. This aligns with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Mission Statement to honor America's Veterans by providing exceptional health care.The ED Medical Director will maintain all clinical responsibilities, including:Participating in patient care activities and other committees/boards impacting patient care.Reporting incidents and concerns to the ACOS/E management team.Holding monthly ER meetings to discuss concerns, policies, and other business.Collaborating with VISN Emergency Department leaders to communicate and implement policies and procedures.Developing contingency plans for staffing in high-demand situations.Representing the VA medical facility on local community EMS committees.Utilizing performance reports and budget documents in decision-making.Coaching, mentoring, supervising, and evaluating ER provider performance.Pay and Benefits:Competitive salary and annual performance bonus.50-55 days of paid time off per year.Traditional federal pension and federal 401K with VA contributions.Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care insurance.Possible $1,000 per year CME reimbursement.Free liability protection with tail coverage.Work Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.Requirements:U.S. Citizenship.Full and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.Proficiency in written and spoken English.Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program.Must pass pre-employment physical examination.Qualifications:To qualify, you must meet the basic requirements, including:Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent.Completion of residency training in an accredited specialty.Proficiency in spoken and written English.Preferred Experience:
