Job Summary

Triangle is waiting for you to join our team!As a Project Engineer, you will be working with Los Angeles Community College District. Your pivotal role within College Project Teams (CPTs) involves collaborating with Project Managers, Construction Managers, and various stakeholders. You'll coordinate with Program Management Office (PMO) staff, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, and consultants. Your active participation in design and construction meetings, field checks, and interpretation of construction plans will ensure compliance with specifications and established College standards. Managing project documentation, reviewing contracts, handling change orders, and assessing project risks are integral to your responsibilities. Additionally, you'll cultivate cross-functional relationships and adhere to PMO SOP guidelines.

Minimum qualifications include 5-8 years of recent professional experience in a similar or equivalent position related to project management or construction management. A BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field is required. Additional qualifying experience beyond the minimum requirement may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. Your ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and proactively make sound decisions will contribute to successful project outcomes.

Responsibilities

Provides technical and engineering support to the College Project Teams (CPT) including Project Managers and Construction ManagersCoordinates with Program Management Office (PMO) staff, contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants and College staffParticipates in, and occasionally runs, design or construction meetings

Makes field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration addition or repair projectsto determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established College standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirementsReads and interprets construction plans and shop drawings

Assists in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelinesSupports development of weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual status reports for project teamReviews, estimates, negotiates, and processes construction change orders and construction fieldordersReviews and enforces construction and professional services contractsManages and directs contractors and outside consultants including reviewing and approvinginvoicesAssesses project risks and develops risk registers including mitigation strategiesFacilitates resolutions of construction and design issuesCoordinates with Architects for timely and accurate responses to requests for information,submittals, Construction Change Documents, etc.Generates and distributes meeting minutes (construction meetings, design meetings, etc.)Confirms contractors maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to theContractorMaintain project files in both electronic and paper formatReviews submittals for conformance to plans and specificationsGenerates and drafts Proposed Board Actions (PBA)Other job-related duties or projects as assignedFollows PMO SOP guidelinesAbility to develop cross-functional relationships with various business unitsMay manage some projects as needed

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

5-8 years minimum recent professional experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project management or construction managementBS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business or related degree. Additionalqualifying experience in excess to the minimum stated above may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
