About The Team:

The NPI Commodity Manager works closely with an extended team across Manufacturing, Supplier Engineering, Design Engineering, Finance, Quality and NPI Engineers in support of Supply Chain functions in a start-up environment to set/maintain appropriate material levels, expedite availability, drive purchase orders, manage bills of materials (BOMs), and source materials. This position will also work closely with a team of international buyers and sourcing managers to execute worldwide purchasing, sourcing, and supplier management responsibilities.

A Day In The Life Of Our Senior NPI Commodity Manager:

Align with Design (DE) and Supplier Engineering (SE) on New Product Introduction (NPI) component item manufacturing processes and supplier tooling strategies.

Own assigned commodity categories and drive strategies and tactics necessary to establish and run a supply base that achieves the quality, cost, and delivery results needed to meet Noah’s goals.

Organize BOM components into commodity groups both short term and long term so that new components can be driven to the right manufacturing process considering the volume three or more years out.

Work cross-functionally with DE and SE teams to support early-stage sourcing and procurement of NPI prototype and pre-production materials.

Manually plan order actions and risk buys based on engineering level BOMs, project schedules, MRP, and demand plans.

Secure and analyze quotations, negotiate prices and terms, and recommend suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness.

Establish contracts with suppliers as well as drive security and resiliency through the proactive identification, monitoring, and mitigation of supply chain risks.

After the right component manufacturing process is established, source custom components through new and existing suppliers; obtain quotations, place purchase orders, drive tooling plans, and as needed expedite and track receipts.

Review production build plans for the procurement of production components and supplies.

Monitor open purchase orders and lead-time; follow up as necessary with suppliers on orders.

Ensure MRP information or data is accurate and current as well as the MRP system is used correctly.

Maintain metrics and manage supplier delivery, quality and cost issues.

Escalate to SE material shortages due to capacity, quality issues, and cost challenges.

Visit suppliers for initial assessments and quality audits as well as to manage and maintain the relationships.

Draft, negotiate and close on Master Supply Agreements (MSA).

About You:

Bachelor’s Degree and 7+ years of experience (or equivalent overall experience) in planning and purchasing custom components in an in-house production environment.

Experience working with Engineering in a pre-commercial NPI launch environment.

Experience in the commodity management of Mechanical, Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, and/or OEM spend categories.

Knowledge of BOMs, routings, and manufacturing scheduling.

Experience with ERP, MRP, Procurement SaaS, and PLM systems.

Advanced Excel user with ability to create V-Look Up and Pivot tables.

Knowledge of inventory control, material receipt, and cycle count programs.

Highly organized and can communicate effectively for providing status and problem resolution.

Medical device manufacturing experience is preferable.
