Master's degree in nursing.Education:

Graduate from an academic program, approved by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs (COA).Certification:

Certified as a Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) or the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).Additional Certifications:

Shall maintain current hands-on certifications through the AHA or ARC for the following life certifications:

Basic Life Support (BLS)Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Experience:

Must have practiced (Clinical Competency) within the specialty within the last 2 years. Additionally, have experience in the delivery of and monitoring of all types of anesthesia.Licensure:

Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.U.S. Citizenship:

HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.English Language Requirement:

Able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.Physical Capability:

Shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and performing all services required.CORE DUTIES:Manage patient anesthesia experience, perform preoperative evaluations and preparations, administer monitored anesthesia care, regional and general anesthesia, monitor and manage patient reactions to anesthesia and surgery, manage fluid therapy, perform and manage invasive monitoring, and perform post-operative evaluations as privileged by the MTF Credentials Committee.Perform a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient, including obtaining informed consent, requesting consultations and/or diagnostic studies, and ordering pre-anesthetic medications.Develop and implement an anesthetic plan of care.Perform an assessment immediately prior to induction of anesthesia of the patient, including a review of the medical record for completeness, pertinent laboratory data, and changes in the patient's condition.Maintain the patient's physiologic homeostasis and correct abnormal responses to the anesthesia and/or surgery.Collect and interpret patient physiological data by selecting, applying or inserting noninvasive monitoring modalities.Manage the patient's airway and pulmonary status.Manage the patient's emergence and recovery from anesthesia by maintaining homeostasis and providing relief from pain and anesthesia side effects.Record all pertinent events during anesthesia, including dosage and duration of anesthetic agents and other medications.Record post-anesthetic visits, including at least one note describing anesthesia-related complications.Advise appropriate anesthesiologist of adverse reactions necessitating non-delegated medical decisions; take appropriate actions as directed or required.Assist with the training of other staff personnel in venipuncture, intravenous therapy, respiratory care, and anesthesia.Attend and participate in professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities.Department quality improvement activities as assigned by the department chief.Non-clinical duties will include maintaining cleanliness of anesthesia work areas and equipment, rotation of stock, and reviewing departmental operating instructions.HOURS:Monday through Friday, 0700 – 1830 or until the last patient is in phase 1 recovery.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Teamwork and time management skills are required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline-intensive environment is essential.
