position works out of our
Sylmar, CA
location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management Division. As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.The Mechanical Engineering Manager will manage the planning and completion of mechanical engineering projects, including the design and development of new product.What You’ll Work OnManages mechanical engineering staff regarding project prioritization, process validations, and continuous improvementsManages the design analysis on components and/or assemblies to develop process by ensuring designs are cost efficient, manufacturable, and reliable.Manages staff in the design, development, and testing of select new products.Implement and manage resource planning and project management toolsSupport equipment enhancements/changes and ensures successful transition to manufacturingMonitor and evaluate project and department progress and resultsParticipate in cross-functional teamsWork with internal departments and external vendors to obtain prototypes and to expand these groups capabilitiesReview and approve protocol and written reportsDrive continuous improvement of mechanical engineering technical capabilitiesPrepare technical reports, analysis, recommendations and presentations reflecting the status and results of projects in progress on a regular basisCoach, manage and develop technical staffPrepare departmental budgets and control expenditures to stay within spending limitsSupport all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirementsPerforms other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.Required QualificationsBS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical field5+ years manufacturing experience, with 2 years of people management experienceSolidworks/Creo or other CAD experiencePreferred QualificationsExperience with statistical techniques (e.g., DOE, SPC)Solid people management and communication skillsSolid knowledge of GMP, ISO regulations.Prior experience in medical device manufacturing preferredDemonstrated ability to hire, develop, and retain highly competent employeesOpen to or experienced in the latest design tools and techniques (ie, Six Sigma, Design for Manufacturability, Analytical Design)Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross division business unit model preferred.Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide positive and constructive feedback respectfully to build positive relationships and improve business results.Ability to work effectively within a team in a fast-paced changing environment.Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills and ability to hold others accountable.Ability to travel approximately 15%, including internationally.Apply Now* Participants who complete a short wellness assessment qualify for FREE coverage in our HIP PPO medical plan.
