We are looking for a high-energy, collaborative leader to be our Advanced Sales Director within the Individual Solutions market segment. In this role, you and your team of advanced sales professionals will support our regional sales directors and a wide variety of financial professionals in the sale of individual life insurance and annuities.You will need to be comfortable wearing several hats:working directly with our highest profile advisors, clients and their tax & legal counsel;representing Securian Financial at industry events and in publishing industry pertinent articles;owning the development and execution of the company's advanced planning strategy;consulting internally with risk, underwriting, legal and actuarial professionals; andbeing the leader and coach of credentialed (e.g., JD and/or CPA) senior consultants.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Oversee the design and implementation of Securian Financial's vision for advanced sales support.Build and maintain the company's reputation as a leading provider of advanced sales consulting to financial professionals across the U.S.Lead and develop a team of senior consultants who can apply their legal, regulatory & tax expertise to high value case opportunities.Provide technical expertise and training on tax and legal issues affecting sales ideas and practices, marketing material and illustration development.Direct and participate in the development and presentation of advanced sales training for regional sales directors, channel partners and financial professionals.Ensure that advanced sales presentations at channel partner and industry events are compelling and insightful.Partner with marketing leadership to develop and distribute advanced sales and marketing materials, training and reference materials, case studies, articles, and other information and materials related to advanced sales concepts and planning strategies.Protect the company by reviewing sales strategies to ensure they fit within the company's risk appetite.Qualifications:Bachelor's degreeMust hold either a J.D. or CPA designationFINRA Series 7, 24 and 66 (or ability to obtain within 12 months)5+ years previous experience in the financial services industry that directly aligns with the specific responsibilities for this positionDeep knowledge of advanced sales concepts and planning strategiesStrong partnership mindset with an aptitude for developing effective relationships with a wide variety of internal and external associatesExcellent planning and organizational skills to handle multiple assignments and requests simultaneously, including the ability to appropriately prioritize time-sensitive tasksDemonstrated ability to communicate complex strategies and financial concepts in an easy-to-understand manner for financial professionals, clients and their tax and legal partnersExcellent written, verbal and presentation skillsMaintains presence and stays current in the greater estate, business, financial products, and financial planning communityInitiative, self-awareness, and orientation for resultsStrong knowledge of individual life insurance, annuity, trust, financial planning, executive benefit, and/or linked benefit productsStrong attention to detail, with an ability to perform quickly and accurately under pressureCreative and flexible mindset and a willingness to change priorities when necessaryAbility to handle cyclical work volumes with a pleasant and professional demeanorAbility to travel approximately 25% of the timeProficiency in educating and training financial professionals on products, procedures and software used in Advanced Sales plan design and financial planningAbility to work with others in a collaborative team environmentSecurian Financial

For this role, you must live within a commutable distance (90 minutes) of our Home Office in St. Paul, MN. You'll join us 2-3 days each week in our offices to collaborate and build relationships. Our policy allows flexibility for the reality of business and personal schedules. When working in our offices at least two days per week isn't feasible (vacations, illness, travel, etc.), an eight day per month standard is an option.Physical Job Requirements:Ability to work at least 40 hours per weekAbility to utilize keyboard, mouse and computer for up to 3-6 hours per dayAbility to utilize telephone for approximately 1-3 hours per dayAbility to meet the physical demands of travel - approximately 20 - 30% of the time.
