Our desire is to see individuals reach their full potential, and create lasting change that will stand the test of time.JOB SUMMARYThe SUD Counselor reports to the Program Director and is responsible for providing direct services to Participants including but not limited to individual case management and groups.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESMust be able to maintain a caseload.Make written case notes regarding client behavior, noting significant intervention and changes in accordance with contract requirements.Assure that the Participants understand and follow program rules and procedures.Develop Individual treatment plans for Participants.Provide individual and group counseling geared toward the client's specified goals and objectives in their Treatment Plan.Plan, organize, and implement special groups and seminars for residents.Assist the Participants in appropriate utilization of referral services.Document progress and all services in the parolees file (including employment effort/status, case conference results).Serve as a resource person with regard to education, training, and employment opportunities available in the community for Participants.Assist the Participant in completing non-work/education related passes when needed.Verify the accuracy, completeness, confirmation of appointment, and verify the path of travel to and from the Kennemer site on non-work/education passes.Provide input for Participant's pass request to attend an event.Serve as backup staff as scheduled for Kennemer Center Facility.Thinks and acts quickly and efficiently in emergencies.Will drive on Agency business as needed.Physical presence at the program is required.ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTSMust have a current AOD certification/license from a certifying body approved by the State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS), and maintain good standing

ORMust be currently registered to provide AOD counseling services from a certifying body approved by the State of California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and maintain good standing, and obtain certification within one year of hire.CPR and First Aid Certification Preferred.Knowledge of substance abuse, addictions, and related disorders, and ability to effectively provide educational groups regarding the treatment of these disorders.Ability to work effectively and professionally with program clients.Ability to manage priorities and workflow.Must have experience in group counseling.Must have experience in counseling utilizing the cognitive behavior modification modality.Ability to write substantive and grammatically correct treatment plans, case/clinical notes and discharge summaries.Basic computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, Office 365, Teams, Zoom and other communication/meeting platforms.Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a dependable means of transportation that is properly insured and operated in accordance with all laws.
