Responsible for facilitating the operation of the Outpatient Program as well as serving the special needs of program participants. Maintain certification of SUD Counseling status I and II based on years of experience, State certification, and ability to perform all essential functions of the job. Provide intake services and acquire approval for clients’ services through Medi-Cal and private insurance. Ability to conduct assessments including treatment plans for individuals. Facilitate group for participants in an outpatient program. Activities are designed to support environmental change for individual recovery in a Social Model setting using evidenced-based curriculum (Matrix).MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Three years’ experience in the alcohol and drug addictions field; approved amount of time in continuous sobriety. Alcohol/drug counseling certification required. Understanding of mental health and substance use diagnoses. Understanding of multiple computer platforms including AVATAR and Electronic Health Records (EHR).POSITION:

Will accept applications until filledThe following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position. An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out the following functions:Support program participants in their recovery; facilitate group discussions; confer with participants individually.Conduct ASAM criteria intake & assessment, recovery, and exit plans for “Guest Room” (Withdrawal Management area) and primary program.Communicate vital information regarding the program and the participants with change of shift (Coordinators/Counselors).Crisis and emergency intervention, as needed.Assure timely communications with persons served, funding sources, staff, and families. Work closely with the justice system, probation, and County Behavioral Health staff.Ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures; including compliance with all client confidentiality requirements.Provide and record case management services.Maintain a caseload of participants who are previously diagnosed with a mental health & substance use disorder; monitor and document recovery plan goals; monthly progress notes.Ensure compliance with all safety regulations.Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings.May perform special projects or other duties as assigned to assure the efficiency and effectiveness of the program.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to communicate effectively and provide excellent customer service with adults and families.Ability to successfully facilitate individual and group discussions.Ability to observe, evaluate, document and communicate verbally and in writing; use of computer, including working in EHR (Electronic Health Records) via AVATAR, input observations and required documentation.Knowledge of alcohol and drug addiction treatment, ASAM criteria, Medi-Cal, 12-step recovery process, and the effect of alcohol and drugs within family systems.Knowledge of community resources.Ability to communicate and lead in a culturally competent and sensitive manner.Ability to handle crisis and emergency situations with good judgment and self-restraint.Physical and Environmental Conditions:Constant movement around facility and some travel in the community. Time spent sitting, using a computer station, periods of intense concentration, using the telephone, paperwork, and time spent in meetings.
