JOB OVERVIEWJob Description Summary:The George Washington University Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Division seeks an Associate Director of Annual Giving Stewardship.DAR is responsible for leading the university’s alumni and fundraising efforts and seeks to promote a culture of philanthropy throughout the university community, including alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, corporations and foundations, patients, and friends. Our goal is to advance GW’s mission of excellence in education, research, scholarship, and patient care.The GW Office of Annual Giving meets the university’s needs by raising funds that have an immediate impact (annual giving is defined by all donors with annual contributions between $1-$49,999.) With a focus on increasing alumni participation rates, the team employs direct marketing best practices, innovative digital and personal outreach strategies, and front-line fundraising efforts to build a base of support for the university.Reporting to the Director of Leadership Annual Giving, the Associate Director is responsible for cultivating strong relationships with annual giving donors, ensuring they feel valued and appreciated for their contributions to the university. You will oversee all aspects of donor relations for annual giving donors, including but not limited to: acknowledgments, stewardship events, impact reporting, and recognition benefits. This position is centrally positioned and focuses on annual and leadership giving donor retention and stewardship for all donor affiliations including alumni, families, faculty, staff, and students.Job Responsibilities:Annual Giving Stewardship Strategy:

Partner in defining and leading the strategy for annual giving stewardship to ensure that relevant messaging and engagement are aligned with university strategic priorities.Collaboration and Coordination:

Partner closely with the central Donor Relations team and unit-based constituent engagement officers to ensure a seamless donor experience across all annual giving levels. Coordinate efforts to steward donors at the appropriate level based on their giving history and preferences.Donor Acknowledgements:

Lead the daily acknowledgment process for annual giving donors through various mediums such as print, video, and email. Ensure timely and personalized communication to express gratitude and recognize donor generosity.Stewardship and Impact Reporting:

Strategize, develop, and implement ongoing stewardship strategies to engage and retain annual giving donors. Create compelling impact reports to demonstrate the tangible outcomes of donor support.Benefits Delivery and Programming:

Manage the GW Loyal Society and Luther Rice Society benefits delivery, ensuring donors receive exclusive perks and experiences. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and execute engaging programming for society members.Event Management:

Serve as the strategic lead for annual giving donor recognition events, including the signature 4th of July fireworks viewing. Plan, execute, and evaluate events to enhance donor engagement and appreciation.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position.
