Overview:

The Director/Senior Director performs and oversees business-driven analyses that generate in-depth customer-focused insights and identifies key business opportunities aimed at maximizing the commercial potential of the Shionogi portfolio. This individual will drive critical business decisions and inform company strategy through insightful analysis and external/industry experience.

This role will lead and generate insights and analytics for the US launch brands and pipeline opportunities across the anti-infectives and anti-viral portfolio, including COVID-19.

Responsibilities:

Provide hands-on expertise and works collaboratively to design, execute and oversee all commercial analytical deliverables related to launch and pipeline products, including identifying appropriate data sets and methodologies to conduct analysis plus synthesis & presentation of final output and conclusion. The scope of analytical support includes (but is not limited to) the following areas:

Market/Landscape analysis, HCP/HCO Opportunity analysis, situation analysis and SWOT analytics, advanced analytics including promotional response and mix modeling, territory opportunity analytics, ROI assessments, and customer assessments.

Work closely with both Commercial, Supply Chain, and Finance leadership to build, analyze, and communicate accurate short-term and long-range demand and revenue forecasts.

Perform advanced statistical analyses with market knowledge and research expertise to identify patterns within the data, uncover insights/brand opportunities and articulate actionable recommendations.

As part of the yearly budget process, define an insights generation plan and budget integrating all available data sources to determine opportunities across the business and to anticipate brand and market challenges.

Partnership and peripheral skills expected include:

Primary Market Research:

Work with primary research and other team members to develop strategic market assessments and summaries.

Standardized Reporting:

Work with field/brand reporting lead to develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards; Monitor and communicate commercial operations performance to senior leadership and rest of business.

Commercial Data Management:

Proactively partner with CDM to enable the development of new data practices, ensuring they support scalable, efficient, and effective data management and analysis.

Market Access Analytics and Data Strategy:

Partner with the US market access organization to evaluate appropriate strategies for payer, pharmacy, and distribution partners, including input and design of data strategy and engagement.

In conjunction with US Leadership Team:

Develop credible annual objectives that effectively measure the Commercial Plan’s performance at the product level (accountability for the US).

Executive Support:

Play a key role in preparation of insights and analysis to support executive level presentations, including quarterly business reviews, board presentations, and budget reviews.

Business Development:

As needed, support key business development and licensing activities through secondary data analytics.

Effectively collaborate across Shionogi to ensure organizational commitment and alignment with key functions (such as: Marketing, Value and Access, Medical, and Sales) that are critical to the successful attainment of financial sales goals.

Display a high degree of creativity and innovation in problem-solving, proactively developing new approaches, processes, and methodologies to maintain consistent and reliable commercial operations.

Drive initiatives that leverage AI, machine learning, and automation to enhance decision-making, optimize operations, and deliver actionable insights.

Ensure that these initiatives translate into tangible value for Shionogi, enhancing capabilities to advance our commercial solutions.

Minimum Job RequirementsQualifications

Master’s degree or PhD in a science or business discipline e.g., Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Operations Research or Computer Science.

Minimum of 8-10 years (Director)/ 10-12 years (Senior Director) pharmaceutical healthcare analytics experience.

Solid knowledge of sources of secondary information and syndicated research for the pharmaceutical and health care industries to include:

Solid understanding of commercial business and industry standard data – script (IQVIA, Symphony, etc.), Patient (Specialty Pharmacies/Distributors), Managed Care (Symphony, MMIT, etc.), and wholesaler/distribution data (EDI 852, 867, etc.).

Awareness of potential biases from each database and how that may impact analysis.

Strong technical knowledge of advanced modeling techniques and statistical principles.

Must be an advanced user of SAS for statistical analysis in a pharmaceutical context and have experience with data extraction, analysis, and modeling.

Familiarity with database management issues and ability to interact effectively with systems managers.

Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10-20% of the year.

Must live a commutable distance to our US Corporate Headquarters in Florham Park, NJ. Office presence is required at least 3 days per week.

Essential Physical and Mental Requirements

Ability to articulate clearly and conduct verbal presentations with large and small audiences.

Ability to travel via automobile and/or airplane.

Ability to view video display terminal images

Ability to operate a computer keyboard and telephone.

Ability to sit for extended periods of time – up to four (4) hours at a time.

Ability to lift, tug, pull up to fifteen (15) pounds.
