SUMMARY

Following the successful completion of a $200 million comprehensive campaign, The Director of Development will serve as a member of the leadership team for the Advancement Office overseeing the day-to-day management of fundraising initiatives including annual fund, major gifts, and planned giving. In addition to these management responsibilities, the Director will cultivate and solicit a personal portfolio of prospects to secure both outright and deferred leadership gifts.

RELATIONSHIPS

The Director of Development reports directly to the Chief Advancement Officer and manages a team of frontline fundraisers. The DOD will lead a team dedicated to increasing participation and financial productivity in annual giving and will contribute to the success of the major/planned giving team. It is also anticipated that the DOD will work closely with board and committee volunteers. The DOD will supervise a small team, which may include the Director of Parent Relations, Director of Leadership Giving, Director of Special Events, Associate Director of Leadership Giving, and the Director of Webb Fund.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage leadership giving, annual giving, planned giving initiatives, and operating goals.With the Chief Advancement Officer, develop strategic plans and operating goals to support Webb’s Strategic Plan, Campus Master Plan, and the department’s operating and long-term goalsCultivate and solicit a portfolio of 75 prospects annually.Manage a fundraising team that will embrace best practices in annual giving and donor participation.Manage in-office leadership gift systems, including PTS (Prospecting Tracking System) and pipeline management.Manage foundation relations program and fundraising with the assistance of the frontline fundraisers.Assign and oversee prospect research, identification, and qualification for frontline fundraisers.Work with key leadership volunteers to identify, cultivate, and solicit leadership gifts.Create and present major gift proposals utilizing outright and deferred giving strategies to alumni, parents, and friends.Assist in marketing, implementing, and maintaining a robust planned giving program, including events, among all constituencies, and the creation and distribution of related marketing material, both digital and print. Oversee the Thompson and Vivian Webb Society and the documentation of all planned gifts.Assist in planning and implementing donor-focused special events, including Centennial Campaign, Alumni Weekend/Reunion Giving Program, Parent programs and other major gift/donor recognition events as needed.Work with vendors to oversee online giving and planned giving websites, event software, gift marketing programs, text messaging, and other donor engagement strategies.Other duties as assigned.PROFESSIONAL QUALITIES WEBB FACULTY & STAFF

Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred, plus a minimum of 5-7 years of development experience.Management experience and demonstrated success soliciting and closing major and leadership annual gifts in a college, university, or school setting preferred.Comprehensive campaign experience preferred.Track record of collaboration with development volunteers and trustees.Ability to travel locally, regionally, and nationally, with possible international travel opportunities.Ability to work well under pressure and be responsive to deadlines.Excellent planning, writing, and communication skills.Outstanding attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed.Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.Work well in a team environment.Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Familiarity with Teams and SharePoint is a plus.Strong aptitude for technology.OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Travel required to visit alumni/parents and to staff regional events.Evening and weekend work required.Assist with the development and implementation of all major alumni and donor events.Maintain working knowledge of campus news.Learn and utilize the development information system – Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge NXT.OTHER REQUIREMENTS

A valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required. A criminal background check is required and must be successfully completed before employment can begin.

COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY

Anticipated salary range: $140,000 - $150,000/Annually
