Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEWOperate thermoforming equipment in a safe and efficient manner, adhering to company policies/processes and customer specificationsCoordinate daily activities of an assigned machine production team consisting of Assistants and Packers, with a focus on safety, quality, and optimizing productivity, scrap, and downtimeAssist Supervisor, Team Leader, and Lead Operator in coaching and training employeesDUTIES

Follow all safety and 5S guidelines - ensure work area remains clean and organized at all timesPromote others to work in a safe mannerAct responsibly with equipment and property of the company and employeesEffectively work within BMS, including reading schedules, entering and maintaining accurate operational data (machine status and materials management - inputs and outputs, both finished goods and scrap)Perform all duties pertaining to the operation of a thermoforming machine to produce finished goods in a safe and cost effective manner, which includes coordination of assigned support staff (Assistants and Packers), taking appropriate measures to minimize downtime, and conducting efficient changeovers using best practices and processesTake appropriate measures to ensure all products are completed to production, quality, and technical specifications. Confirm acceptable levels are achieved/sustained by conducting and documenting QA testing & inspections using various fixtures and equipment.Keep Supervisor/Team Leader/Lead Operator informed of critical issues which affect safety, quality, and production levelsConduct production problem solving and troubleshooting, both independently and in partnership with Team Leader/Supervisor/Process Engineering/Maintenance supportMaintain tool boards, machine boards, audits, check sheets, etc.Assist in giving scheduled breaks and lunches for the production crews on your machineComplete certification by successful completion of Thermoforming Operator Job Training Outline and Skills AssessmentServe as trainer/coach resource for production staffPerform any task as directed by Supervisor or Team Leader to support other plant operationsComply with and support enforcement of all policies and procedures, e.g., work rules, quality, GMP, Food Safety, etc.Support Kaizen Events and/or other continuous improvement and cost savings initiativesSKILLS AND JOB REQUIREMENTS

Demonstrated ability to operate thermoforming equipmentEffective interpersonal and oral and written communication skillsConduct self and lead others in alignment with Bemis Core Values, maintaining professional conduct and leading by good example

Ability to direct/coordinate team members in achievement of daily production goals in a manner to promote teamwork and a positive work environmentCertified as an of Assistant Thermoforming Operator through successful completion of Job Training Outline and Skills Assessment

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Will be required to manipulate shafts up to 70 pounds into rollsWill be required to install and secure forming and trimming toolsAbility to work standing for 8 hour shiftAble to withstand heatOur Expectations
