Pipe Fitter
Summary
The Pipe Fitter is responsible for traveling to customer sites to install sanitary piping and tube systems, mainly for the Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical industries. This position requires someone with extensive sanitary process piping experience. A successful candidate must have the ability travel for extended periods of time, work weekends, and overtime as necessary.
Success Criteria & MeasurementPerforms all work in a timely manner as designated by the Pipe Supervisor/Project ManagerAccurately completes projects, paperwork, and timesheets, submitting items as requiredSafely uses all equipment, such as welding guns, tools, overhead cranes, forklifts, etc.Effectively communicates with the Pipe Supervisor/Project Manager, Customers, and other team members verbally, through text, or emailWorks with limited supervision and in a clean and organized mannerMaintains professional conduct at all times, particularly when at customer sitesResponsibilities
Repair, maintain, and install sanitary piping and tubing systems, for the Food & Beverage and Pharmaceutical industriesPerform installations or replacements of piping systems, and related equipmentFabricate tanks and structural supports, and weld high pressure lines and pressure vesselsRead and interpret construction documents and shop drawingsAnticipate job requirements and order material.Increase familiarity of area equipment and piping systems of customer facilitiesNotify customers and supervisors of status of work and any complications that impact the scheduleWork individually or on a team to execute repairs or installationsPerform all work in accordance with safety rules and procedures, such as OSHA, federal, state, and local regulationsPerform other duties and assume various responsibilities as determined by the Pipe Supervisor/Project ManagerPhysical Demands
Must be able to complete the essential functions of this position: stand, walk, climb, crouch, stoop, kneel, and bendMust be able to lift up to 75 pounds at a time on a regular basisOperating tools, performing mechanical or skilled trade tasksAbility to weld at heights and tight spacesQualifications
High School degree preferredCurrent, valid driver's license with a safe driving historyMinimum of 5 years experience pipe fittingAbility to pass a fitters testAbility to read and assemble from blueprints with a basic understanding of mathematicsExcellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of formsStrong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skillsDeadline and detail-orientedRigging experience is a plus
