The Crude Oil Driver/ Gauger applies advanced skills to perform the full range of operations using tools and equipment appropriate for the position. Applies a thorough understanding of the technical concepts, practices and procedures and a general knowledge of industry standards and government regulations related to testing and transporting crude oil products to pipeline injection points.
Responsibilities and functions described are all inclusive with no real separation:
Plans and accomplishes operational assignments and tasks related to gauging tank volumes and testing of product quality specifications of crude oil products transported from remote locations to pipeline injection points using a Class A tractor and a tanker trailer.Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations and company policies and procedures by operating all vehicles and equipment in a safe and efficient manner to maintain the ongoing transport of crude oil products.Must be able to perform pre- and post-trip inspections on equipment used for the transportation ofhazardous materials. Knowledge of all Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.Maintains the operational efficiency of vehicles by monitoring truck maintenance needs, conducting minor repairs, and conducting daily DOT truck inspections to ensure maximum vehicle safety.Must be able to report on time to required dispatched specified schedule, to meet time and deliveryof all pickup and delivery requirements to contribute to operations effectively.Maintains and completes accurate daily logs, reports, and records, such as documenting truck inspections, hours of service, product transported, miles driven, and any other paperwork required by the company.Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Able to effectively communicate with internal and external customers of the company.Ability to demonstrate and understand instructions furnished in written and/or oral form, and ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations in daily operations.Must be able to perform mathematical calculations required for the position and learn to interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions, and other like documents used in an energy industry environment.Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications other than the primary assignment.Ability to make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel.Additional Requirements: Works under general supervision. Work is reviewed for completion toquality standards and schedule requirements. May adapt techniques and tools to meet specialneeds with approval from management.Working Conditions: Work is normally performed outside where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, fumes and gases is common. Noise level is moderate to loud and includes sounds of construction, equipment operations, and trucks and like equipment.Job hazards include frequently working near moving mechanical parts and occasionallyworking in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.Working in normal, light, and heavy construction activities and working around pressured propane,water, electricity, and waste lines and under all weather conditions.

Work may require frequent, constantly, or occasionally walking, standing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, reaching, pushing, pulling, or carrying 50 to 100 pound objects such as tools, equipment work operations. - Outside work involves climbing storage tank ladders up to 60 feet high while gauging the product contained inside. Work involves sitting and driving for extended periods most of the time and standing and walking for moderate periods of time.
