JOB SUMMARY Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment. DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers. Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment. Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables. Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards. Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers to diagnose malfunction. Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices. Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors. Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit and electrical apparatus in buildings. Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic components of machines and equipment. EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS Minimum requirement: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent experience and/or training Six months to one year related experience and/or training Current driver's license State of Kentucky Electrician's license Preferred qualifications: WORKING ENVIRONMENT Constantly works near moving mechanical parts. Frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Frequently exposed to a risk of electrical shock. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Constantly required to move about throughout the department and facility. Constantly required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices. Occasionally required to operate a computer and other equipment. Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
