Plate Roll Operator operates rolling machine to bend metal plates, sheets, or bars into arcs, cylinders, or cones using blueprints, templates, or knowledge of geometry and physical properties of metal to set up machine and plan sequence of operations. Pulls lever to lift upper roll and positions workpiece into machine manually, or by crane.
Duties:Adjust roll between each pass to form workpiece into specified shapeMeasures arcs with templateEnters information of workpiece to be rolledIdentifies equipment and material problems and advises supervisorAdjust roll at angle to form conical shapesAdjust roll to straighten warped or bent bars or platesRe-rolls cylinders after weldingChecks roundness of finished cylindersOperate other computer numeric controlled machinery as needed to meet productionAbility to operate a forklift and overhead craneAbility to read and interpret blueprintsMust be able to read a tape measurePerform other duties as assigned
