We are seeking an experience Concrete Finisher to assist with heavy civil construction projects in and around the Gulf Coasts chemical and industrial facilities.

The Concrete Finisher must have the knowledge and ability to level concrete to specified depth and workable consistency with handheld screed and floats to bring water to the surface and produce soft topping, smooth and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete, finish concrete surfaces, wet and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish, produce rough concrete surface with broom, remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using powder grinder or chisel and hammer, patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound and perform other duties assigned.

Requirements

RequirementsPerforms a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labor in heavy construction projects.Ability to perform all physical tasks involved in working, leveling, shaping, smoothing, texturing, & rubbing concrete.Knowledge & ability to spread, level, and smooth concrete, using rake, shovel, hand or power trowel, hand or power screed, and float.Ability to operate manual, pneumatic, & electric power tools.Ability to place concrete via concrete pump hoses, buggies, light equipment outfitted with buckets, wheelbarrows, & shovels.Knowledge of concrete fabrication techniques.Ability to verify levelness or verticality.Experience in flat work, curbs, gutters, form setting, and layout.Maintains a clean job site; picks up all tools and equipment and secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.Performs materials handling and storage.Loads and unloads trucks and hauls and hoists materials.Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds of material and up to 100 pounds of material with assistance if requested.Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Brings problems to the attention of the foreman, safety director or HR manager.Interpersonal Competencies:

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites including extreme weather conditions that include but are not limited to high heat and humidity, cold, ice, snow, & rain. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls, or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee works from platforms at height. The employee walks and works on unlevel, steep, slippery, wet, muddy, & inconsistent ground. The employee must have excellent stamina.
