We offer stability with a straight schedule and a history of no layoffs.Our Shift ours are: 1st shift: Monday - Thursday 5:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.2nd shift: Monday - Thursday 3:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.3rd shift Friday - Sunday 3:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.4th shift Friday - Sunday 3:00 p.m. - 3:00 a.m.Pay based on experience*In addition, we offer Shift Differentials for our 2nd, 3rd, 4th shiftsPOSITION SUMMARYThe Coating Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a coating printing machine to produce print on label rolls. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSFollow standard operating procedures and specifications or instructions of higher level technical personnel and monitor meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures, and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specificationsMaintain production records and logs of equipment and product performanceAdjust set up and process operations accordinglyFollow coating formulas to weigh and prepare coating solutions for application to substrates (paper, poly, etc.)Inspect and examine products for print clarity, color accuracy, conformance to specifications and external defects in accordance with green cardAbility to test coat weights, and functional properties after coating to ensure quality productLoad raw material into machine and unload finished productPerform tests and check product routinely for multiple characteristics using standard measuring devices and making some judgments against not readily measurable standardsReposition printing plates, adjust pressure rolls, or otherwise adjust machines to improve print quality, using knobs or hand toolsSet and adjust speed, temperature, ink flow, and positions and pressure tolerances of equipmentExamine job orders to determine details such as quantities to be printed, production times, stock specifications, colors, color sequences, and anilox BCM (Billion Cubic Microns)Select and install printing plates, rollers, gauges, dies, and cylinders in machines according to specifications, using hand toolsMonitor feeding, printing, and coating of presses to maintain specified operating levels and to detect malfunctions, making adjustments as necessaryPour ink, color compounds, and other materials into ink chambers, making measurements and adjustments to control color and viscosity Test inks for pH and viscosity according to manufacturer's specificationsClean and lubricate printing and coating machines and components, using oil, solvents, brushes, rags, and hosesPerform in a leadership role and guide Coating Machine Assistant for the machine the Coating Machine Operator is working onMay operate forklift to move and place materialMay utilize inventory system including scanners to track inventoryOther duties as assignedRequirementsCompetency StatementsAccountability: The extent to which an individual is willing to accept responsibility.Accuracy: The extent to which an individual's work is correct and error free within company policies and guidelines.Adaptability: The extent to which an individual can fit into a changing work environment.Communication, Oral & Written: The extent to which an individual communicates with clarity, actively engaging in conversations in order to clearly understand others' message and intent, and received and processes feedback.Organized: The ability of the individual to be structured and methodical in working skills.Problem Solving: The ability to recognize courses of action which can be taken to handle problems or potential problems.Safety Awareness: The ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.SKILLS & ABILITIESPreferred EducationHigh School Diploma or GEDTechnical Certification or Associates Degree in printing processesPreferred ExperiencePrevious coating experience and/or flexographic printing experience is a plus, but not requiredComputer SkillsMust have working knowledge of the use of a PC and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)Other SkillsMechanical aptitude is a mustMath/algebra skills is preferred, used in the quality testing processAbility to use measurement of liquids for multipart batchesEqual Opportunity Employer - Including Disabled and Veterans#HRTLPSalary Description Pay Based On Experience
