Helping communities throughout South Dakota thrive and grow is what we do every day. Now, with bigger projects than ever in a growing backlog, we need someone to help us take our services to another level. The construction technician role plays an increasingly important role in each project, and we need experts in the field. This role involves onsite construction monitoring various construction projects across the state of South Dakota. This position will be in Sioux Falls, Brookings, Vermillion, Mobridge, Aberdeen, or Pierre SD, and will require travel within the State of South Dakota up to a week at a time depending upon job assignment.
Conduct and document observations of construction progress as it progressesPerform civil engineering calculations; prepare engineering plans, designs, and reportsConduct or coordinate filed materials sampling and testingRead and interpret construction drawings and specificationsCollaborate with other field representatives and/or Project ManagersServe as a liaison with clients, government and regulatory authorities, and contractorsPrioritize overall project management and ensure successful project deliveryPossibility for long-term assignmentsRequirements
Proven problem-solving and documentation abilitiesAbility to work independently and as part of a teamAbility to interpret construction schedulesExhibits professionalism with clientsLicensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with applicable state lawStrong written and oral communication skillsPreferred Qualifications
2-year or 4-year degrees in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar disciplinesIndustry certificationsUnderstanding of Project Management principlesAbility to interpret construction schedules
