Responsibilities MTSI is seeking a Lead Infrared SME with experience in infrared, optics, radiometry, calibration, test, data analysis, computer vision, open systems architecture, uncertainty quantification, and statistics. The position will be tasked to partner with and provide oversight on teams of engineers and technicians developing state-of-the-art infrared systems. The development effort will include design, modeling and simulation, manufacturing and integration, calibration, and test (bench/lab/ground/flight) for the infrared systems as well as any software and analysis tools required. Additional duties include managing vendor contracts and providing status reports and recommendations to the customer. Provide SME support to the customer team and their vendors during the development, test, and fielding of state-of-the-art infrared systems Travel to vendor facilities to partner with and work closely with vendor teams to provide technical leadership and guidance of infrared development efforts and produce status reports and recommendations Use customer provided software to execute infrared modeling and simulation Implement industry standard, theoretical, and/or rigorous analysis methodologies to verify and validate infrared designs and analysis methods Collaborate with government personnel to prioritize features and deliverables to meet changing customer needs Exhibit a willingness to learn and implement leading edge technologies to include software, firmware, and computational methods Work well in a team environment as well as independently Exhibit a willingness to accept changing and evolving roles & responsibilities in support of customers' requirements and needs Qualifications Required Skills/Experience Minimum of 8 years of related relevant experience Must have professional experience with the development of remote sensing technologies and their underlying principles Understanding of concepts, principles, and practices of infrared system development, testing, and analysis Working knowledge of optics and optical train characterization Excellent communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems, software, and current modeling tools Desired Skills/Credentials Experience in radiometry, optics, and calibration of infrared systems Aptitude to learn new software tools and computational methods Experience in data analysis, uncertainty quantification, and statistical methods Experience with modeling and simulation to include system modeling and scenario development Experience in flight testing of aircraft systems and sensor testing with a clear understanding of flight test principles and discipline Experience with computer vision, machine learning, and other emerging computational methodologies Experience with implementation, compliance verification, and best practices for open systems architecture Education Bachelor's degree (engineering, math, computer science, information technology, data sciences, or physics). Masters degree preferred. Degrees emphasizing optics, radiometry, or signals and systems highly preferred. Travel: Travel up to 20% may be required for this position.
