POSITION DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:

The basic functions of the Estimator are to:

1. Determine, with the aid of the Vice President of Pre-Construction/Estimating, which jobs to bid.Prepare and submit bids according to company policy.Prepare a job package that details all job costs, such as hours allocated, material costs, subcontractor costs, equipment rental costs and overhead.Maintain good relationship with customers/potential customers and suppliers.Ensure proper bond and/or other bid documents are requested/received.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

The Estimator must have excellent written communication skills.He/she must be able to organize data into a comprehensive, professional package.Must have problem solving ability.Must possess a high work ethic, moral and personal integrity, and honesty. He/she must command the same qualities throughout the organization.He/she must be able to effectively communicate with others, including suppliers, customers, and employees.Must be mature and self-motivated.He/she must exemplify professionalism in personal appearance, manner, and leadership style.Must have good computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft products such as Word & Excel, as well as other software programs (Blue Beam and Trimble MEP AutoBid Software) utilized by the organization for this position.POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education : A high school diploma is required; a four-year college degree is preferred. Equivalent experience may be substituted to fulfill the requirement of a college degree.Experience : Two plus years of commercial plumbing estimating experience is essential.Skills/Knowledge :

Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, common fractions, and decimals.Must be able to comprehend and interpret blueprints, drawings, common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.Must be able to effectively lead by example and get the best from all company associates without undue pressure.Must possess sound management skills and the willingness and ability to improve the existing skills.Must be organized and able to make efficient use of time.Must be able to use, or learn to use, basic office and computer equipment and be versed in software programs applicable to the estimating position.Must be knowledgeable of job site safety requirements as Pre-Bid walk throughs and jobsite reviews will be required.Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.
