Description

This is a Per-Diem position with variable hours. Hours include 0600-1430 or 1400-2230 depending on the need of the Radiology Department + every other weekend.

The definition of a Radiology Transporter is described as, but not limited to, movement of patients to and from diagnostic testing/procedures, transfer of patients between floors, and transport of goods/medical equipment throughout to and from the Radiology Department.

This position requires frequent walking and movement of patients/objects whose weight may be in excess of 25lbs. The position requires employment of sound body mechanics and the ability to safely transfer patients to and from medical units. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values of Alhambra Hospital.

Responsibilities:

Works under the supervision of the Radiology Team Lead and/or Department DirectorNotifies Radiology Lead/RN/patient care team leader of patient exit/return and any changes in patient's condition observed during transport.Maintains effective communication with the healthcare team.Follows established protocols for patients at high risk: such as Fall Risk, elopement risk or those at risk for suicide or unpredictable behavior.Follows appropriate Code Blue/ MET notification proceduresBasic to advanced patient transfer techniques such as:Bed to gurney, gurney to bedStretcher to Medical Equipment, Medical Equipment to stretcherPositioning for safety in all transport modalitiesPatient safety measures following applicable National Patient Safety GoalsObtains necessary training prior to initial equipment use.Assures equipment is in working order prior to useUses equipment in accordance with manufacturer's operating instructions. Including, but not limited to:Transport stretchers, patient beds, lifting devices, wheelchairs

Qualifications:

High school graduate or equivalentValid and Current BLS and Good customer service skills a must.
