Job DescriptionRay-Carroll Co. Grain Growers Inc. has an immediate opening for a Grain Originator that would be based out of the Richmond office. The Originator position is a buyer position that will be responsible for purchasing commodities from producers and commercial elevators. This person will be provided with a list of producers to either grow, or maintain business relationships with. Originators provide support to the grain department to maximize efficiencies that will directly contribute to the profitability of Ray-Carroll by working closely with the other originators. This role partners closely with the company merchandiser, logistics team, accounting team, and location managers.Essential duties and responsibilities:•Create working relationships with area farmers to develop strong buyer/seller relationships.•Negotiate directly with farmers and other sellers of grain to purchase grain at the best margin for Ray-Carroll.•Call on producers who have not sold to Ray-Carroll with the objective of learning their operation and what it would take to obtain their business.•Execute and manage contracts including signing and execution of terms, conditions and delivery.•Candidate should have strong communication skills and the ability to relay accurate information such as current market trends, grain quotes, explaining grain programs, assisting producers with marketing plans, reconciliation of contract balance, and settlements.•Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.•Gather, review, and contribute commodity market analysis and information in support of regional position.•Partner with the elevator and office staff in the exchange of information to enhance the flow of grain.•Maintain market intelligence and location basis levels.•Other duties as assigned.Basic Qualifications:•Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience•Basic understanding of row crop production and agriculture principlesRay-Carroll offers an exceptional benefit package that may include:•Healthcare, Dental, Vision•Coop Retirement Plan with company contribution•Optional 401K with company matching•Life Insurance•Cafeteria Plan•Long-Term Disability
