Alliant Energy is seeking a Senior Data Engineer (Snowflake/ Informatica) to play a crucial role in advancing the data and analytics practices within the organization. In this role, you will lead the design, development, implementation, enhancement, and maintenance of data pipelines across multiple technology platforms. Your expertise in Snowflake, Informatica, Python and modern data practices will be instrumental in driving data driven capabilities and ensuring alignment with evolving analytics requirements.
You have superb communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical partners and collaborate effectively across teams. Conduct in-depth data needs analysis, capture requirements, and define detailed specifications. You will also implement and govern Data Management best practices and proactively recommend approaches and solutions.
*This is a hybrid position reporting to either the Cedar Rapids, IA or Madison, WI office.
What you will do
Builds and maintains integrations using Agile principles and processes.
Relying on general direction from a manager, ensures systems are operating as designed, evaluates system processes and procedures, assesses requests for changes to integrations, develops recommendations to tackle problems and issues related to business system operations, and makes decisions involving detailed knowledge of operational issues.
Typically works on new, and less-defined application projects to assess and refine user stories, formulate, and communicate solutions, develop test plans, conduct testing, and implement systems and system improvements.
Communicate customer requirements into user stories using Agile tools.
Communicates methods for using technology to improve business processes.
Regularly provides mentorship to less expert analysts.
Reviews the statement of work and assists in developing technology road maps.
Develops and evaluates the efficiency of system controls, e.g., reports and queries, modifying the controls and procedures as appropriate.
Handles inquiries regarding the technical aspects of Integrations by aiding and coordinating work with IT staff and other business units.
Designs and implements solutions to provide functional and end-user support including end-user assistance, system maintenance, and fixes.
Documents procedures and maintains corporate compliance with mandated regulations by leading and in some cases owning the development, review, and update of appropriate policies, procedures, and standards, e.g., Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance.
Supports on-call activity for system support needs.
Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.
Required Experience
5 years of related experience.
Preferred Experience
Bachelor's Degree Emphasis in information technology or related area.
Experience implementing Data warehouse, Data lakes in the cloud.
Proficient in SQL and strong experience in Python.
Experience with extract and load processes from system sources such as Oracle, SQL Server, flat file, API, etc..
Working experience with Snowflake - data modeling, ELT using Snowflake SQL, implementing complex stored Procedures and standard DWH and ETL concepts.
Experience with Informatica, DBT Core, and CI/CD preferred.
