Description:The Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) invites applications and nominations for Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases. The Division offers exceptional opportunities for clinical care, research and scholarly activity, education and training, community outreach, and outstanding faculty. Division faculty are involved in multidisciplinary collaborations, funded research, and close partnerships with community-based agencies. A strength of the Division is its active engagement with traditionally underserved populations designed to address diverse health disparities.

The Division is part of a vibrant and growing Department of Medicine and College of Medicine that prioritizes collegiality, diversity, integrity, compassion, and innovation. UIC has the 2nd largest medical school in the country and the largest number of students from underrepresented minority groups.

Responsibilities:Administration/LeadershipEnhance and build Divisional programs and promote a vision for clinical and translational research, training, and community outreach.Manage the Division's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and resource allocation for programs and initiatives.Develop and execute strategic plans for the Division, aligning with the goals of the Department of Medicine, College of Medicine, and UIC.Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Division and the broader medical community.

Clinical ActivitiesServe as attending physician for resident- and fellow-supported inpatient and outpatient services.Supervise advanced care practitioners, fellows, residents, and medical students.

Research ActivitiesActively engage in and support investigator-led national, federally-funded cutting-edge clinical research to treat and prevent COVID-19, HIV, and other infectious diseases.Publish and support publication of research findings in peer-reviewed journals and presentations at national and international conferences.

Training/EducationRecruit, oversee and mentor a team of ID specialists with expertise in general ID, transplant ID, infection prevention, outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy, HIV, addiction medicine, telehealth, mobile health and global health.Collaborate with the Program Director to nurture and grow a vibrant and engaged ID Fellowship Training Program.

Outreach/community engagementWork with community members and stakeholders to strengthen Division impact.

Qualifications:Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree (DO)Unrestricted State of Illinois Physician/Surgeon License or eligible to obtain upon offerBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Internal MedicineBoard Certified in Infectious DiseasesRegional or national recognition is expected
