DescriptionA DAY IN THE LIFE AS A CATH LAB RN As a Cath Lab RN, you will monitor the patient and assist the cardiologist through procedures such as diagnostic and interventional catheterizations, stent placement, cardioversion, Impella insertions, pacemaker/defibrillators, PCI's, PPI's, and TEE's to name a few. You may also perform or assist with the necessary following skills for a Cardiac Cath Lab RN: start and discontinue peripheral IVs, insert and discontinue NG, airway management, aspirate blood samples from central lines, arterial sheath pull/hemostasis management and pressure dressings. Pain management. Phlebotomy, temporary pacing, 12 lead EKG, invasive line management and monitoring. Titration of medications, point of care testing, defibrillation, and cardioversion. Intra-aortic balloon pump console and timing. Insert/ irrigate/ and DC male and female Foley catheters. Knowledge of aseptic technique, circulate and monitor cases as lab necessitates. Ability to use IV pumps, wall suctions cardiac monitoring, crash (code) cart, MedRad injector, ACIST contrast management system. Ambu bag, EMR, patient transfer devices, point of care testing, and PYXIS medication cart.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS FOR A CATH LAB RN Graduate from an approved school of nursing1-3 years' clinical experience required. Current Kansas State Nursing LicenseBLS and ACLS certificationClinical competency in basic cardiac physiology/pathology, 12-Lead EKG interpretation; physiologic monitoring (intra cardiac pressure waveform knowledge), pacemaker operations (implantable and external) and other radiographic equipment related to cardiac care.PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS1-3 years critical care or cath lab experience ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This part-time position will consistently be scheduled 20-hours per week.
